My budget 350 build
So I had a 89 camaro 2.8l sitting in the yard and decided I'd turn it into a fun little toy for relatively cheap. I had a late 90's model crate motor sitting in garage so decided to use that to start the project off. Also have a built th350 that we use to use over on the circle track that will be going behind this thing.
My receipt's so far:
New cam bearings, freeze plugs, clean block, polish crankshaft- $184.52
Clevite Rod Bearings- $19.76
Spider and retainers- $78.25
Eagle Forged I beam rods- $212.35
Sealed Power Main bearings- $25.15
Oil Pump-$25.15
Assembly lube misc- $29.65
Sealed Power Piston Rings- $34.15
Std Speed Pro Flat Top Hyper Pistons- $86.00
Summit Roller Lifters- $108.00
Comp Cams XR276HR- $230.65
Vortec heads 062, Screw in studs, guideplates, machined for .650" lift, crane 99846 springs good for .600" lift- $500
1.5 Comp Cam Roller Tip Rocker Arms- free with heads
Total thus far: ~$1560. Still got another $400 or so in getting an intake, distributor, and some other things. Cam will be here tomorrow I'll try to get some pics of it, the trans, and the car this weekend.
BTW these pics are taking with my camera phone please excuse the crappy quality.

Re: My budget 350 build
cool
im surprised more people arent building 350s to put in their third gen, i recently bought a 85 trans am with a 350 in it out of a first gen camaro, and its HELLAFAST, and its 10x easier to work on then fuel injection and computer controlled crap
I like the style of the third gen but i don't like the injection systems.

Re: My budget 350 build
This is gonna be good. I'm stuck on what I want to do with my motor build. I can't even decide on a rotating assembly... 350 with a better top end, or 383 with stock top end (for now).

Re: My budget 350 build
Wow - I can't remember the last time my junk stock parts pile was that small!
My "pile" now fills 3 boxes under the house, 3 boxes in the screen room, and a real pile under the screen room that's about 3ft tall, and 6 ft in diameter - and I've twice this year literally gave away stuff for free on Craigslist just to get rid of it!
