1989 IROC Ignition problems! Possibly nuetral safety switch.

Ok, I have a project car that I bought from a friend, it is in rough electrical shape, I have got fire to my ignition switch power to all vats points, bypassed with correct resister, but no fire, so I gutted my entire interrior to locate the electrical grimlin that has me shut down, I think it is my neutral safety switch but alas, I have no safety switch! I have a after market shifter, b&m mega. So my question is this...can someone please post a pic of what the n/switch is, where the wires are that connect, and where they go( trans/ comp)??? I am complety lost and frustrated, this monster will be the death of me.

I don't think they are in the car but like I said I don't know where they are or what the wires look like so I may be mistaken. I turn the key and nothing! I mean nothing happens! No click no nothing! Please shed aim light on the subject all u experts out there...

89 iroc tpi 350, after market cam, bored .30 over 700r4 with venum shift kit and Possi rear end

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Was the car originally auto transmission, or manual transmission?

I'm not very familiar with VATS cars, but it should be something close to the following:

If auto, the wires will come from under the dash to the console. Big purple and big yellow wires.

If manual, they will be down where the clutch pedal pivoted, then the purple wire goes to the firewall bulkhead connector to the engine compartment.

Thanks for the info, to answer all questions, it is original auto trans, no it will not crank, I had the engine turning over by crossing over the starter and spraying gas in the intake...the engine will run, after my buddy rebuilt the engine and trans he coulnt get it to crank??? I don't think he hooked up the neutral safety switch? Cause I can't find it?? Or the wires to it? But I will use the info above and look for the wires...vats is a pain, but I think I've bypassed it correctly, but I could be wrong....like I said before I'm completely lost on this, it's a project car with potential, but lots of electrical maybes

Re: 1989 IROC Ignition problems! Possibly nuetral safety switch.

Ok, update. I can now crank the car with the egnition, there're is a fuel pump relay fuse right next to the bat, some one had taken it out!!! Anyway that solved the fuel problem, I fixed the cranking prob by crossing a ppl wire to the starter with the yellow wire on the start enable relay, one step closer...now I can't get the injectors to work, they have 12v to both sides, and I have had my ign module checked...I do not know where to go from here? Any suggetions on what it may be would be appriciated... Thanks

New update, tps voltage has me shut down, I've got a couple of good troubleshooting ideas so far...I will trace blue and gray wires to see if they are touching one another grounding the ECM out at 5vs!!!
