new top end?

Right now i have a ZZ4 motor with about 330 hp , my plans are to buy a set of AFR 195 cc heads, 1.6 rockers, a comp cam extreme energy mechanical roller cam, a Edelbrock Victory JR. intake, and a 750 demon carb.... dose this sounds like a good set up for a zz4 motor.. im looking to get a little over 400 hp, if not wat set up would be good?

Re: new top end?

What is your goal for the car? If its just a fun car I would do the heads, hydraulic roller cam (you didnt specify any size cam) and an air gap manifold.

I have a similar setup to what you posted above. I just swapped to the Victor Jr. from a Torker II. It lost a dramatic amount of low rpm power. I know I have some tuning to do, which will give me back some, but it still lost a lot.

BTW, what you listed above, assuming the correct cam, will give way over 400 hp.

Car: '86 Z28, '91 RS
Engine: 305ci, 305ci
Transmission: TH200c (no kidding), TH700r4
Axle/Gears: 2.73, 2.73
Re: new top end?

All of that is overkill for just over 400hp at the crank.

Dual planes have come a long way, some of them flow as good or better then single planes up top.

I'm not going to keep typing though because built91Z28 said pretty much what I was intending too

Re: new top end?

The bottom end of that crate engine is hypereutectic pistons, nodular iron crank, and NOT balanced. Plus consider the rod bolts. DO NOT exceed 6200 rpm with it, EVER!
And with that being the case, you're going WAY too insane with the proposal.
If you can afford AFR heads, get the 180s. They'll support 525 HP on a 406, to 6500 rpm, with a modest HR cam, so they're more than enough for you.
You also don't need to go solid roller. In fact, the lifters you already have are perfectly good for 6200.
And the RPM AirGap is far better than the stupid old Victor Jr., even at 6500 rpm.
