Live in ca, register in Az???
Hi, I have an 83 z28, it wont pass smog right now. I was wondering, I have family in Arizona (I live in California) and they said I could use their address to register it. They live in a small town called globe, where I guess they don't have to smog their vehicles because it isn't within city limits. Plus then I could add dual exhaust as well as some other things. So my main question is, do I actually have to take it to the dmv in AZ to register it, even if it isnt going to be smogged, or can I do it online or something. Everything I read just says I need to take it there for the smog, but I don't see anything about what to do if I dont need to smog it. It is on non op right now, and it wont make the drive to az, and I can't afford it either. ideas?

I forget if the fine is $1000 or $10000. Starts with a "1" and ends with multiple zeros.

If the car was registered in California then you'll have to take it to have an out-of-state inspection.

Man, I'm not a huge fan of snow, but I'm glad I live in MI, where there's no vehicle inspections.
There are multiple threads on here for passing smog tests, though. Though I've never had to, I've read there's a gasoline additive that can drop your numbers. Methanol, maybe? Search it.
