EFI guys have to learn to do the same....it's all part of the fun!
This is my first OBD1 car...actually it is my first camaro. Don't hate me but I have been a mustang guy my whole life. I am used to plug and play. But I have been attracted to the IROC Z and the mid 80's Monte Carlo SS for as long as I can remember. And even with all the issues I am having to iron out with this car I still have the fire. Finding this website didn't hurt either.

Alright folks, I finally got some overtime on this check. My next question is.....on Moates site they have the all in one package. http://www.moates.net/apu1-autoprom-....html?cPath=64. I understand this is probably more than I need but if I am going to do this then I would rather have overkill than underkill. Will this package do everything I need and more?

Re: Crazy MAF problems!!

The Autoprom allows you to make changes while the car is still running (emulating), rather than having to burn a chip and then start the car again. So yes, it does everything you need.

I just burn my chips with the Burn2.....it's all based on your preference or needs.

Cool, I think I am gonna spend the extra money for that package. Thanks for the feedback.

Sigh...

The HELL they don't! I've gotten numerous people home by unplugging the maf and forcing the car into limp home mode. Hell, some of them don't even trigger a lamp like that for a while.

Put the 'new' MAF back in, replace your MAF relays, get a datalog, come and post it up, then bug Vader.

Re: Crazy MAF problems!!

Alright folks, just ordered the APU1 autoprom package: USB version from Moates.net and also the GP1 package arrived a few days ago. So hopefully next week I will start the process of tuning the beast. Stay tuned, hopefully I don't blow anything up.

Re: Crazy MAF problems!!

Well, I have everything hooked up and the car in my garage so I can take my sweet time with this. I really don't even know where to start. I guess I need to download a program to start with but which one? Where do I get it and how do I use it? I'm in over my head. HELP

I already got that. Is that all I need or do I have to download some bin file too before I can start the car? I really wish they sent me AutoProm for dummies. And I have been reading DIY PROM posts but....

Re: Crazy MAF problems!!

Yes you need to download the proper bin file for your engine/ecm application. You also need to download the proper definition file (adx) to be able to define the bin.

You can find both of those on the moates website, once you log on...i believe their under downloads.

I don't see it. I might just be getting frustrated. I was really hoping I would get some data logging in today. Is there another place I can find this stuff?

Yes, there are a ton of files there. In the DIY Prom forum, post the year/make/model/ecm# of your car and ask which bin files and xdf files work for your application. We will all chime in and help you from there....
