new flywheel and starter after swap...

305 tpi into 92 s10, motor came with no starter or flywheel, so i had to guess at the shims for the starter. now, no start, have to buy a new flywheel, new starter and hope i can figure out how to shim he starter correctly this time. any input on how to do this?
looking for a gear reduction starter that's small enough to fit inside the frame rails, and maybe a re-ring kit for the flywheel

Re: new flywheel and starter after swap...

flywheels are cheep like 25 bucks easy way to check is take a paper clip and straighten it out use a screwdriver to pull out the bendix (or remove the motor lead so the bendix kicks but dosent spin when the key is turned) and if the paper clip wire fits in and has a little resistance your good to go if not then shim it till it does. add shims to the frame rail side to move it closer inner bolt to move it out. Also get a brace or bracket for the front it really helps keep the starter from shifting side to side making it impossible to get the correct engagment.
