Did an electric fan come standard in the 1992 Camaro RS LO3 5.0?

I just realized I have an electric fan in my 92 RS 5.0. Did that come standard or was that custom installed? Thanks guys.

That will def help me. I plan in going with an open air element and here in Houston there is going to be alot of hot air getting sucked in. I dont want it to bog down in traffic.

They were all electric as is mine. I'd rethink the open element idea though. What does the fan have to do with having an open element?

With an open element more warm air will be being sucked into the engine, and that bogs down the engine if it's just sitting in traffic sucking in hot air. An elecric fan helps bring in a little more cool air.

The electric fan will bring in nice hot air through the radiator/condensor. I'd recommend rethinking the open element as well.

If you really want to benefit from an open element, you would need to have a scoop, or a raised cowl hood.

Re: Did an electric fan come standard in the 1992 Camaro RS LO3 5.0?

There are better ways to do cold air induction. Like using a supercharger hat and some tubing plus a K&N filter. But that's expensive, not to mention a waste of time. Total cost of an open air filter $25-30, the way it looks under the hood, priceless. well not priceless. I don't know if any of you have seen my hood, but I can guaranty you it won't be replaced or modfied any time soon.

If you want some performance gains i say you just buy air cleaner assembly from a 305 H.O.

Hard to find, more expensive, and doesn't work well for mine cause there's junk in the way where the second snorkle would go.

You can find a duel snorkle in rick's camaro. Also that junk can be relocated if you want to install one.

your fan brings hot air in thru the radiator, hotter than the outside air.
