It's been a long time since I fooled with those heads but if my memory is correct I think you may be limited to around .500" lift. I had a friend running a .525" lift cam on a dirt car with vortec heads. I never saw him race but it seemed strong.

Re: Building a bracket car??? Cam help......

You need to start with a cam then build everything around it. Since you already have a lot of parts, you're going to be limited to what the cam can do with those parts. Any sub par component will restrict the potential of a cam. You're biggest limiting factor right now is the converter stall. The stall speed is to get the engine rpm into the powerband as quick as possible at WOT. Too low or high and you lose performance. You're now limited to a camshaft that will work best with your stall speed which means other parts may not be optimal.

Is this street/strip or strip only? Parts selection will depend a lot on that.

We are having the guides cut down so lift will not be a problem..Yes 2500 is kinda low on stall ran a 3500 on my 10 second dodge, but do not know alot about chevy camshafts, any ideas on what would go good with this combo...This motor will only be in for a while..thanks
