Bad antifreeze leak

Hey I need some help

I backed my car out to clean the inside and I let it run. No spots in the garage, while idling I noticed a huge puddle. Turned it off and checked coolant levels. Looked fine so I backed it by the garage and jacked it up. It is leaking under the radiator mount on two points in the center and passenger side. I looked and the usual suspects are okay, like the hose and water pump. No traces of coolant getting there. Ran it and the leak stopped. Then I left it parked, bam big leak huge puddle. I had the radiator and all cooling items replaced fairly recently. What could cause this weird problem?

Re: Bad antifreeze leak

she just dribbled it all out, having it towed Monday morning to the mechanic who put that faulty piece of cast iron in my car. Hoping for a free replacement.

Re: Bad antifreeze leak

The water pump has two"weep" holes on the underside.
If seal/bearing starts to give out coolant will start to drip/flow out the hole letting you know its bad.
If that the case a new water pump is necessary.

That's initially what I thought it was, that and the hose and the plugs in the radiator. Sadly I found zero trails of coolant. The only wet part is the radiator tray. May be cracked on the bottom

Re: Bad antifreeze leak

Could be that, could be something as simple as the radiator cap or the hose to the coolant recovery bottle.

I thought so too, took out the airbox and found all hoses on the overflow to be intact with no visible leaks, and the cap seemed to be in good shape. The only place I could find it leaking is in the bottom radiator mount. No other place was wet, and it would be clearly visible since it dumped the entire system. The place should have my car pretty soon and hopefully then I can post back and answer to what happened.

Re: Bad antifreeze leak

Just a thought, but check the drain plug too. Could be loose or cross threaded.

Re: Bad antifreeze leak

Got a call back, radiator is cracked. It has been in the car less than a year.
