I looked on line and found Wester's garage and Harris performance/fastchips.com The last guy I used screwed me over, basically lied to me, so I put a stop payment on it and am starting from scratch.

I'm just pissed I got screwed over. He called me several times but I' m not answering. Now he's calling me....to funny. If I didn't call or text him he would never have initiated any correspondence to get me what I paid for. And that's the trick, I paid for it, money's in the bank, he didn't care at that point, then the bank called him, I bet that went over well...haha

I used Scott Hansen (www.scotthansen.net) as recent as last month for a tune and am happy with the results. Can add him to the 'trustworthy' vendor list, at least in my eyes.

Scott had me a chip within days.

I called Scott and he told me he only does TPI stuff not TBI. I'm going to go with Harris performance of www.tbichips.com He really went over what I was looking to achieve and how to go about it. I feel comfortable with talking with him and the turn around time is a week.

It very informative, some beyond my means, so I have to defer to the people who do it for a living which I am not at all embarrassed to say. It's not my field of expertise as it is theirs. I have to believe there are the good companies/people out there doing this and sometimes you have to realize you just have to pay. The information on that forum provided is excellent and I'm soaking up all I can. Even if I can't do it, the education to understand it the best I can is very valuable. This is one way to help me hopefully ask the right questions so I can make the proper buying decision, at least that's the way I look at it. I got screwed over once, however I was fortunate I was able to get my money back.

MAKE IT your field. It's really not all that hard.

Eat a meal....

DON'T "buy" a "chip". That's as stupid as, back when I was coming up, "buy" a carb with some "tune" in it, or "buy" a distributor with some "curve" already in it. The way it works is, you establish a baseline; say, stock. Not necessarily stock, but, somewhere you can START tuning from. Then:

Make a change.

Better/worse?
Better: change whatever that was, a little more the same direction.
Worse: change it back to where it was, plus a little more.

Better/worse?
Better: change whatever that was, a little more the same direction.
Worse: change it back to where it was, plus a little more.

Better/worse?
Better: change whatever that was, a little more the same direction.
Worse: change it back to where it was, plus a little more.

Better/worse?
Better: change whatever that was, a little more the same direction.
Worse: change it back to where it was, plus a little more.

Better/worse?
Better: change whatever that was, a little more the same direction.
Worse: change it back to where it was, plus a little more.

Eventually you get to a point where THAT PARTICULAR THING, no matter which way you adjust it from that point, gets worse. It is as good as it gets.

We call this "tuning". There's NO WAY IN HELL you're going to "pay" ANYBODY, no matter how "good" they are at this, and they're gonna just NAIL IT. Doesn't work that way.

Learn to do it yourself. It'll pay off in the long run. Your car will run better, and YOU will be smarter for it.

You DID NOT get "screwed over"; you merely didn't understand the limitations of "buy" "chip" like you do now that you've read this post. NOW YOU DO. Don't make the same mistake again.

I know no one will ever nail it per se, it's a constant work in progress. No one in my area does this tuning. I do believe what you say about the difficulty level. I'm getting the basics of it, however as it stands now I need one to be done for me so I can get this car on the road and running. It will me take some time for me to digest all the necessary program down loads and such to be able to do it on my own. Since I have nothing but time after that point I can do just that-learn so I can do it on my own and if I make a mistake, I've got a chip to put right back in where it will run.

I used fastchip years ago just to get my new engine up and running while I learned how to program chips. I didn't have the best experience and I wouldn't use him again.

It's actually Harris performance of www.tbichips.com I made the mistake of putting those two together so it looks like they're the same people. Since I haven't bought it yet, are you programming chips currently, and if so what do you charge?
