1989 Camaro Convertible RS loss

Due to a car fire I recently lost my 89 Camaro Convertible, I've owned this car since 1992. I took really good care of her and it broke my heart when I lost her. I didn"t have it insured for a appraised amount just had full coverage on it. My car has 160,000 plus miles on it ,the car ran great, no issues with anything, upgraded stereo , rims and tires, new carpet and newer convertible top, paint was a 20 footer with no rust ever. My insurance has offered me $5500.00. I can appeal this offer and get an outside appraisal done. I'm looking for other members opinions and thoughts on what direction I should take. I have looked at Ebay completed listings and it seems Irocs go for more money

I went through the same ordeal last year. Do a search with my name and fire. A number of members chimed in and I updated the thread until everything was fully resolved. Insurance originally tried telling me that my Camaro was worth less than $5,000. They told me it would be totaled. In the end I got the amount needed to refinish the interior but it was a somewhat long and back and fourth process. Read my thread and find out what resources are available in your state regarding insurance. Know what your car was worth and be able to prove it. Be firm. Know what alternative action you can take and allow them to understand you know what you can do and what reasonable is. I'm going out on a limb here but convertibles in good shape with some upgrades should be around a $10,000 price tag and that would give you $7,500 in damages before totalling it out.
