Like everything else, you get what you pay for. I've seen the inexpensive imported parts wear out very quickly but that doesn't mean they're all junk. You're going to roll the dice. For that price, you can buy 2 of the cheap ones and if they both fail, you're still ahead until you need to buy a third.

For critical parts, and the distributor most certainly qualifies there.... I tend to bit the bullet, and spend the money on a KNOWN good brand. Cardone, Duralast, etc, do NOT fall into that category. Especially for electronics......

I have Genuine GM (New Old Stock) Delco Remy Made in the U.S.A. complete distributor assemblies. They are small cap external coil computer controlled HEI distributors. They are the real deal Delco Remy. GM part no. 1104096 complete distributor assemblies from the GM melonized steel distributor gear to the Delco Remy distributor cap and everything in between Genuine GM.
Note they don't come with the distributor to intake gasket, distributor hold down clamp or bolt. I can get those for you (Genuine GM) if you need them though.
I also have extra Genuine GM (NOS) Delco Remy distributor caps. Not the thinner, lighter crap ACDelco sells as Genuine GM parts.
I also have genuine NGK UR4 and UR5 sparkplugs. Real Made in the U.S.A NGK sparkplugs not counterfeits.
Note: The top picture of all the distributors in the box is an actual photo of the Genuine GM 1104096 (NOS) Delco Remy distributors that I have. All the pictures below that picture are stock photos. I will take close up detailed pictures later on and post them.
Genuine GM 1104096 (NOS) Delco Remy complete distributor assemblies. Cap color looks grey due to poor warehouse lighting and cheap camera. Caps are jet black in real life.
Genuine GM melonized distributor gear.
Genuine GM distributor cap.

That's a good deal on a genuine GM part, I believe I paid a little less for an AC Delco reman and those seem like one of the better aftermarkets available...it even came with the supposedly hotter 369 ignition control module instead of the 048 that was on the original.

Re: Recommendations for a good Distributer? Ac Delco or?
When I had to replace my distributor for the 2nd time I bought the GM performance one. This should be the part number: 1104060
A warning to anyone who buys one of these distributors, I had the ignition modules fail on two of these. From what I recall, the modules didn't have any type of thermal compound grease/paste on it. I ended up replacing the module with a Standard branded module (Bought from O'reillys, surprisingly made in the USA as well) and slapped it on with some thermal paste used for PC cpu's. Haven't had a problem after about 3 years now.

Are you warning people that there is something wrong with the Genuine GM (NOS) Delco Remy distributors I have that by the casting marks on the shaft of the housing were produced in the mid 1990's? Or you just giving a general warning to people buying HEI style distributors to make sure there is thermal interface compound between the ICM and the distributor housing?
I can assure you and anyone else that the ones I have do have thermal interface compound between the Genuine GM ICM and the distributor housing. At first glace it can appear that you are trying to warn members away from buying a distributor from me. At a second glance it appears you are warning people to make sure there is thermal interface compound between the ICM and distributor housing of any similar style distributor.

Re: Recommendations for a good Distributer? Ac Delco or?
Reread my comment. I'm referring to the distributor I mentioned. The GM Performance ones that you can get brand new. Not you NOS ones. If I was in their situation and it was okay for the vehicle to be down, I'd buy one of yours. Although if you needed one quickly (your local dealer could get one of these in less than a day if they didn't have one already) get a GM performance one. Besides the problems I mentioned, I've been happy with it.
Your last sentence is correct, make sure there's thermal compound on any brand new distributor. I had two in a row that DID NOT have any thermal compound on them.
Also unrelated, don't buy the cheapo parts store distributors. They're extremely low quality. I also don't recommend buying the computer controlled HEI style distributor from MSD. Their ICM is not designed to be replaceable! Ask me how I know.
