problems with my wipers
Howdy fellas,
I am having a problem with the wipers on my 84 Trans Am...first off the delay on the wipers no longer works. however that is not the main problem. The big problem is that once i turn the wipers on (at either low or high speed, as the delay doesn't work), they wont go off. I turn the switch to the off position and they stay on. The only way to turn them off is to have the wiper switch turned to the off position and then shut the car off and turn the key back to the accessory position...then they will turn off. i was wondering if there was a way to fix this problem or should i just get a used wiiper motor and replace the whole thing. By the way, the wiper motor (the cylinder on the bottom of the wiper motor assembly)has two wires going into it. This is my frist car and i am still learning when it comes to cars, but i am trying to fix as many of the little things as i can now that i have put some good mods on it to give it at least some repectable power. Thanks for all your help guys

before you buy a new wiper assembly -- check the switch and delay. I dont know for sure what yours looks like on an 84 but I had similar problems and all I did was get a new wiper/turnsig/cruise switch and my problems were solved

now that I think about it the wiper arm should be completely mechanical and the actual arm I am talking about pulls out of the steering column with some effort. if part of that arm was broken I doubt turning the car off then back on again would help like you said.
I think you should look into the wiper assembly but make sure you get the electronics because thats what is probably broken.
