The race I seen, A 1992 Z28 vs. 1990 GT Mustang

I was hanging out at the local 1/2 mile strip and my 2 buddies wanted to race, One has the 1992 Z with a 350 TPI and a 4 spd auto, And the other has a 1990 Mustang GT, 5.0 5 spd,
Well, They both line up, My friend drops his arms and they take off, Both got good traction but the Z pulled ahead from the start and the Mustang never caught up, The Z won by 2 or 3 car lengths, Needless to say, It was a good race! But I was expectin the Camaro to win. Well later guys.
By the way, Both cars are bone stock, Cept the Camaro is running an Accel Supercoil and Accel Wires.

Why were you expectin the camaro to win? With those cars that is a driver's race, and obviously the Zs driver was the better driver.

Well, the GT's are pretty heavy. If it were a 5.0 LX or Fox body with a 5 speed, it would have taken the Z every time.

I was under the impression the Fox body's were the plain 5.0 with the trunk and not the hatch.

All 79 - 93 Mustangs are fox bodies.

The plain 5.0 with the trunk is called the coupe, notch, or sedan.

GT's only came in hatchbacks and convertibles and had the ground effects.

LX's came in coupes, hatchbacks, and convertibles and did not have ground effects.

Hey mark why would you consider it a drivers race if the z had a 350 in it?

Because with equal drivers the cars are equally fast.

To be **** about it...it's 225 hp, plus a weight advantage for the mustang, plus better gearing with the T5 versus the A4. In conclusion...it's a driver's race.

can we ever stop the mustang ignorance? I hate when RS drivers bash mustangs too......drive one then decide. there are advantages and disadvantages.

a stock LX 5.0 is pretty quick and responds to bolt ons fairly well,

I dunno, the kid in the Mustang prolly wasn't all that great of a driver cause those 5.0 5-Speed stangs are pretty quick from the factory.. Throw afew bolt-ons on it, and their screamin low 13's high 12's. People have got STOCK mustangs into 12's with tires and a good set of gears.. I've never seen any TPI camaro do that.
So yeah, it was def. a drivers race.. either that or all that 'Tuned Port Torque' helped the Z edge him out.. lol

Why do all the races that Camaro_1986_19 post about always includes a 1992 Z28 versus a Mustang of some sort? I'm not buying this and not letting this go any further. You've done a 92 Z versus Mustang threads before, and I'm locking this one because I'm preventing a potential flame war.
