Guy wants to race me for money in his IROC-Z.
Well its a 5-speed so that tells me its a 305. He claims its a 350. He also has a Nitrous Express bottle in the back hatch which he bought from this guy at school with a Z28. He says he is running a 150 shot. I gave him the good ol and asked if he had forged internals. He said it came factory with forged everything. (this is his first car). The bottle IS hooked up and I'm guessing its still running the last shot the LT1 owner had it on (75). But this guy wants to race me for $500. I saw it cash in his hand. I know the guy doesn't have much money and I know this is straight out of his banking account. I would cream him if we raced but I don't know if I want to take his money or not. What do you guys think about this situation? I'm lost as to what I should do.

I mean I guess anything is possible but its on my side. And he doesn't know much about cars AT ALL. He told my friend that he had his IROC to 170mph the other night. He is talking MAD **** but I really don't want to take his money, even if he is a little punk. I mean I don't need the money and I know his family and believe me they do.

Wrap it in sand paper, and give it to him HARD! And when he loses if he doesn't run from paying, tell him you only want $100 to take you girl out and tell him to put the rest in his car b4 he goes talkin $h!t teach him a little less, without the weight of the guilt
And if you play it out right, you may even get some booty after you take your girl out so look at it like this...take down some punk, get 100 bucks, feel good for teaching him a lesson without the guilt of takin all 500, and end up with booty at the end of the night....sounds like a plan to me :lala:

I just called this fool, we ARE racing tonight at 11:15 when my friends get off work. I will post the results.

You will win, I just sold an IROC a few weeks ago, it has the 350tpi with a few mods, it will not come close to the new cobra.......now my 305 200,000+ miles t/a will take a new cobra........if you give me a 10min. head start good luck it looks like you should win, if the guy shows up.

Nice looking IROC, do you mind me asking how much you sold it for?
A friend of mine called me a few mins ago telling me that the guy with the IROC is getting his friend that owns a LS1 Super Sport to come out too and race me. Who knows how many will be after me by the time 11 rolls around.

i was asking $6500, someone from ca. paid the asking price, the car only had 32,000 miles on it and my dad was the original owner cant talk about it too much, I mite cry......i really regret selling it now that its gone,for years it just sat around the garage and was never driven, i could have gotten more for it but it sat for soooooo long the trans seals were leaking and there were a few paint flaws (mom induced) but other that that the car was in great shape, still had the original tires on it when i sold it.

it was nothing, the car really need someone that would drive it and take care of it,the person that got it will take good car of it, i just dont have the time to drive it,i have if you can believe it 4cars and 3 trucks, and i can only drive 1 at a time, my newest truck has about the same hp as your cobra, its a 02 3500 chevy with the 8.1L 410hp with the 6speed trans......but weighs it at 7600lbs (dry) lol, and will pass everything but a gas station is the race still on for tonight?

Well I went out to walmart and there is a red IROC-Z and a dark blue SS 98+ there along with alot of people. Here we go I said. I had the $500 with me unless I lose. Well I asked who wanted to go first. The guy with the SS steps up and said he would go. Now the last and only time I have raced this guy was about 3 months ago when I had all thats in my sig minus the supercharger. I barely beat him and he had a lid and corsa exhaust. Well since then I dunno what he has done, he doesn't tell anyone what he does to his car. Well I told him we wern't going for any money this race because I only betted against the IROC. He said ok and that he didn't want to take my money anyways. Well this girl asked me if she could come along for the ride while I raced him and I told her no and tried to explain to her that she would slow me down because she was dead weight. Well I ended up making her feel like she is fat. Anyways I asked him if he wanted to go from a roll or dead stop. He said roll (last time I raced him from a dead stop and he smoked them off the line while I slipped the clutch at 3,000rpms causing a slight chirp and a 2.0 60' on the street). Well I said ok and I was glad, now I don't have to fight the traction beast. I'm still new to launching with the supercharger. I asked him what mph and he said he would honk at me when we were going to go. I said ok and we rolled out onto the road. It seemed pretty dead and at about 30mph he honked at me. I got next to him and honked at him and he took off. I had her in 2nd and I just floored it and started reeling him in VERY fast. speed shifted into 3rd and punched ahead of him. Shifted into 4th and gained about one and a half car lengths. Shifted into 5th and I was a good 4 car lengths ahead of him. Well we got back to walmart and he went over to his friends and was talking to them and the IROC guy and one of my friends was over there and he came over to me and I asked him what was being said over there. He said "They think you are full of it. They think you have nitrous because he said you pulled way to hard to just have 400hp." I'm sitting here WTF did he expect!? Turns out the guy only added long tube headers since I raced him last and he thinks he is around 380rwhp. Well once I pop my hood and the LS1 guy checks for nitrous lines while the IROC guy looks over his shoulder not knowing what he is looking for. At this point I said "found anything?!........wtf are we going to do this or not? Its ****ing cold!" well the IROC owner says "Yea, we are still gonne race. But lets not race for the money" I said "woah woah woah, you talked **** for how long saying you could trash my car and now YOU want to back down?!" and he said "alright...alright...we will race for the money" I said good, gave my money to my friend and he gave his money to his friend. I pick someone to ride with him and he picks someone to ride with me to make sure no one cheats. The girl steps in my car and ask me if I think I can beat him. At this point I'm getting sick of his **** and I'm alittle ticked. I said "Just don't talk and watch what happens." So I roll up next to him and we roll down the windows. I ask him what he wants to do. Dead stop or from a roll. Well seeing how the LS1 owner bit the dust from a roll he said "stop". Ok so we get the clear and come to a stop. I'm thinking (I hope this guy doesn't know how to launch) I decide I will launch from idle. So I honk 3 times and I let him get the jump. The idiot sprays his 75 shot out of the hole and he is roasting his tire. Thats right he is a peg leg. Well I launch from idle and spin all through 1st, short shift into 2nd, short shift into 3rd and finally get the traction I was begging for. (I was on street tires, didn't have time to change over the the Nittos). I look at the girl next to me and she is as white as my car. She said "Holy **** your car is fast! That was so weird, it was like I was weightless!" I just laugh and me and the guy do a U turn. He rides next to me for a while at 50mph and he honks 3 times and takes off. Ok we are going at this again. I down shift into 3rd and the rpms rise only to about 3,500rpms. Enough to atleast build some boost. I start to pass him at about 5,500rpms and by the time I reach 4th gear I am a good 2 car lengths ahead of him and I don't shut it down until I think its unsafe. I take it all the way to 155mph and let off. By this time the guy is just a speck in my rear view mirror. I get back to walmart and let the girl tell the story. I collect my $500 and his $500 and come home. Now I am going to sleep.

I never said I didnt believe you had the car. I have seen pics of it. And I've known you since you had your V6 fbody. The only reason I question you is because of your history (cracking hatch with your exhaust/the whole 13.5 vs 13.1 BS).
And I wouldnt be mad at a supercharged cobra beating a SS. I have seen it happen a few times.
I am interested in your new setup. What type of charger are you running?

Like I said, if you would pay attention you wouldn't have these problems now would you? There was a crack in my friend's hatch he said I caused it when I passed him at about 6,000rpms with my old setup. He made me believe that so that I would buy him a new hatch glass (it was a joke he played on me). My first time ever at the track was a 13.5@103mph. Later I backed that up with a 13.1@106mph. Do a search, its all there.

I have a good feeling nothing has changed on your car at all. If you were running a supercharger, Im sure you wouldnt mind answering a few questions about it. The way you act, Im sure you would post the info even if we didnt want it.

How do you like it? What have you had to work with as far as tuning goes? What size pulley are you running? How has it affected drivability?
As I stated WAY above...My friend with a 97 cobra is interested in going forced air, and we were looking for opinions of the different brands.

Monkie, just answer him. I am not telling you what to do, but if you just say you have an intercooled PorCharger, and 8.6 psi of boost, he will leave you alone Just tell him some info, and he will believe you. No offense but your reputation isn't the greatest, so just answer and he won't have any problems, and then it can be a big happy family again!

This is obviously going to be a lock. I'll admit joint fault in the problem. Sorry to have doubted you oh master of the automotive world. You sure could teach me a lesson about turning wrenches .
And if my head was in my @ss, I'd be asking questions how does your (student) 18 year old punk *** pay for all that crap? Daddys checkbook goes a long way.

Oh,
And out of MY experience...dont get the BBK headers. They are a bitch to install and provide minimal gains. (we did it on the '97)
Plan on removing a ton just to get to the headers...they have to go in through the bottom.
With tuning he got less than a 15hp gain at the wheels (dyno'ed before/after)

since you have some what experiance with SCs. I have a 96 trans am and am looking to get some type of SC. What can I safely go with out hurting anything? I was thinking 6 or 8 psi, but I dunno?

I've always liked ATI. I love the idea of their front mount intercooler and trust me IT WORKS! ATI all the way for me. Even when I was looking at getting a LT1 and LS1 I was still planning ATI Procharger. Lemme know alittle more about what you are wondering about. Your question....You can run any of them "safely". I don't understand what you're saying..
