sibling rivalry
so i bought a 94 Pontiac Formula as a christmas present for my girlfriend who wanted to enjoy drag racing the way i do (so the only way for her to do that was to have her own car she can race!) we took it down to the track and she ran a best time of 14.8 at 98mph with a 2.8 sec 60ft. obviously there was room for improvement. if i could get the 60fts down into the 2.0 - 2.1 range, mid/high 13s should be attainable.
but anyway, ive raced a few of my brothers (Tuned Port) friends and beat them all. because the car is jet black, and sounds nasty with its Flowmaster cat-back, not to mention the car has NEVER lost a race... i nickednamed it "Death".
so my brother has been a little critical about the times i got from the Formula, saying im not in "his league" and it would be a waste of gas to run me. i, on the other hand, think our 2 cars would be a great matchup, and a very exciting race. so i called him out today, telling him "Death comes for you". all day at work ive been taunting him (just messing around, the usual pre race smack talk), and now hes saying he doesnt want to race me anymore! i think i scared him a little bit with my taunting and now hes lost his confidence or something. cause before i would always hear how he would beat me, but now i guess thats not the case. anyway, heres the stats on our cars:
94 Formula (LT1 auto, 3.23s)
- best time: 14.8 at 98mph w 2.8 60ft
- mods: flowmaster catback, airfoil, K&N cold air induction
91 Corvette (L98 auto, 2.59s)
- best time: 13.8 at 101mph w 2.0 60ft
- mods: K&N filter, airfoil, AFPR, high flow front ypipe, catback exhaust, free mods, drag radials
my brothers 13.8 was BEFORE all the exhaust work and DRs. he clearly has the advantage over my car being how his is in good tune and has half the miles mine does. my question is: why wont he race me??? and if he grows a backbone, who do you think will win?

I wish my girlfriend was that nice to me. I would say with improvement on the 60ft the car can easily hit high 13's. Get a few more mods on the Formula and you might be able to take him.

First of all, how in the hell did she get a 2.8 60ft? Did she run through the water box then not heat up the tires? Practice launching, get a decent street tire or DRs, then get a 2400-2800stall and you will have a low 13s LT1 @ 101 or so.

I'm gonna go with the Vette on this one. I think it'll be a very close race though, assuming both get good launches. It could go either way, but I already predicted.

my car is stock however my brother is putting alot of money in his late 1980's ford thunderbird turbo coupe.. i never raced him or want to, because i dont want to start any thing bad.. i think he would give me a good run..
i started out with high 60 foots in my formula and ran in the 15s!!!
now got the 60 foots down and i like the times i have now.

i think the way the Formula is set up right now it would definately do a mid 13 with DRs. on the track my brother and i would be equals, but anything can happen on the street...

I know what you mean. My brother bought a 92 RS, completely stock with V-8, auto, t-tops, had a kickass system though. He bought the car of my brother-in-law and my sister for $800, he told me he bought it when I told him I was going to offer a grand on it. Anyways, he thought that his LO3 was uber fast because he got headers and exhaust, so he challenged me to a race. Not the smartest thing he has ever done. That was an easy meal though.
