raced a cobra last night....
Well last night I was sitting at a stoplight on a 4 lane hiway just chillin and my buddy tells me a bad a** cobra just pulled up on the right. I tried to see who was driving but it was night time and they had dark tints. Then the light turned green and we kind of teased each other with the throttle until about 15 mph and then he/she punched it. Well I buried it but I was in overdrive to it stayed in 2nd. they easily pulled a car or two on me in 1st gear but then I caught back up to his bumper when he mis/shifted. Then we were pretty even for a few seconds until I ran out of 2nd and he walked me up to about 100 where he was probly 3 or 4 cars up. I think I might have been pulling closer to him at the end - maybe- or he just quit trying- but anyways I see a cop up ahead going about 60 so I hit the brakes and this fool flies right past him going fast as hell and almost gets pulled over. So I never actually got to see who was driving or ask them what mods they had cause I turned (I have no lisc.) in case he wanted to call me in too. But it was a pretty fun race even though he raped me. His car looked pretty stock I think it was a 97ish style Cobra. Anyone ever race one of these or think I wouldve had a better chance from a dead stop? My car is almost stock so Im kind of happy I kept up as good as I did

I encounter thos 97ish cobras alot. from a dead start they're meat. if we're on a roll then we're even most of the time. i recently ran a new one with gears and he took me by a car. his car couldnt hook up for nothing, so much tire smoke in my way. hed prolly do better with slicks.
no license....ur crazy.

yea, i dont advise you do keep driving... but a stock 97 cobra will run anywhere from low 14's to high 13's. ...

You know if you get into an accident - even if some lady rear ends you while putting on makeup - you are automatically at fault because you aren't even supposed to be driving PERIOD.

My buddy has a 89 Formula 350 G92 and he runs me pretty well (not well enough tho :-P) and I've walked a few cobras. Not sure what I'm going to do tho with my 90 Iroc-Z, might sell for a bike Neway, you shoulda raped him off the line, those things have NO torque, its upper rpms where you gotta worry. Had you a stick tho I'd say first he woulda saw your taillights, 2nd he woulda been squinting, and 3rd you'd better haul *** from him cause hes catching up! Those cars are great races tho, I love beating the modded ones...btw they trap at 99mph at best, we all know manual depends on driver and my buddy ran his stock 97 Cobra atleast 15 times and ran no higher than a 99 and lowest was a 95. All depends!
Good race though, I wish my LB9 had a cam, give me some upper rpms thats where i fall on my face

My friend was running 13.8's @ 101 stock, and 13.6's @ 103 on regular street tires after a catback and offroad H pipe in his 97 Cobra. We're expecting it to run high 12's on drag radials after his most recent round of mods.

He's just put a gear and a programmer on it so I'm thinking he MIGHT get a 13.5...but I don't know...I'm sure that would be with someone else driving it though...he's not that great of a driver...but he won't let any of us drive the car. BTW his vert weighs around 3700lbs...

Yes Mystic is the color changing paint but nothing like Chromalusion (whatever it is called). It is dark and changes between a few dark colors. The paint is gorgeous!
A gear swap in those cars really wakes them up. My friends 96 is shifted at 7000 RPM, so going from a factory gear to a 4.30 would wake it up considerably!

A friend just got one, a 96. I haven't gotten a ride in it yet but it's got ballz. I hope he's a good driver so it'll be a heads up race when I take him on. Not a big fan of the style but the interior is nice and it drives well, the brakes are also a nice touch.

Hey mustang guys...I raced a newer mustang GT with the 4.6(must have been a 98-2001-I can't tell the difference between those years)...what kinda times do these things run in the 1/4? At the local 1/10th mile drags(yes i said 1/10th!) I ran a 8.2 and the Mustang GT ran a 8.4(I think it just had an exhaust), I'm just trying to figure out what time that equates to in the quater for my car.
Ps- We're basically at sea level.

A new GT should be low 14s high 13s, but if he cant drive it could be a mid 14. I know that a high 8 in the 1/8 mile is about a high 13. Other than that I have no clue what to tell you.
