Embarassed another thirdgen

Late the other night I pull into a gas station just before heading home for the night. On the other side of the building I see a red later model 91-92 Z28. While inside, I notice he's got the hood blisters, the spoiler, but with RS badging and no TPI badges... hmmm...

After only $10, I pull around the building and drive by the guy just to make sure he sees me I pull out onto the main road slowly accelerating to 20 and then I drop it into 1st going sideways smoking the tires and getting a little squirrelly into 2nd. I see him pull out of the gas station and I begin to slow to 10 under the speed limit. He finally catches up with me and we just cruise next to each other waiting for an opening in the traffic. I get bored of this and put my turn signal on VERY early for a right turn. He gets right behind me and I make the merge onto I-97. I casually enter the highway and as soon as the merge is complete he attempts a slingshot manuever. Not so fast! I floor it at the top of 2nd and match his speed instantly and begin to pull... and pull... and geez was it embarassing. I hit 110 and let off and he was WAY back. He catches up to me and guns it flying by me. I hold back, just watching his car "accelerate". It sounded like a stock RS, and ran like one too.

At least it was more exciting than most of the import races I've had lately

Well its the same as a Honda trying to outrun you with a fart pipe and a wing. Someone in a V-6 thirdgen or a lower end motor like an LG4 or L69 doesn't have a chance against a highly modded thirdgen.

Just like that 1993-1997 V-6 Camaro picking on me last weekend. That was a SAD race.

You pick on someone outside of your class and that's what happens. Good kill.

Your the first thirdgen I've seen with ZR-1's, and they look nice on the car. (I didn't think they would.)

Way to rip that poser a new a$$...

I guess technically he wasn't posing.. since he still had the "RS" badging.. but it kinda bothers me how he made it look like a Z28 without doing an engine swap..

I won't rag on him tho, maybe he was on a budget...

WEll maybe the RS driver wasnt really trying to pick on you, or race you........maybe he does what I do sometimes in my LG4, which is whenever I see a nice thirdgen, maybe I will follow, and see If he gets on it......because there is nothing more I love than to see a nice third gen punishing the pavement!!!!!!!!!!

Some of them yes, others, no. There is a 91 RS that runs around here, lowered damn near to the ground, terrible paint, crappy stickers, and oh yes he put a fart pipe on it. I'm not jokin either. It is a complete embarrassment to the thirdgen name. A race is a race, nice kill man. BTW sweet lookin ride.

Nah, I know when someone is running me. He was trying Besides, judging by the layers of dirt and pollen on his car I doubt he was an enthusiast.

They are factory 98 SS wheels, so they are the painted silver. They match the GFX. Too bad the picture quality sucks

Hey hey, come on

An L69 can easily walk just about any other thirdgen with some light mods. Remember, this engine has a powerband all the way up to 6000 rpm, not just to 4500 like a TPI.

You might not want to be so cocky... the 3.8L was introduced full swing in '96... running low 15's stock and with simple bolt ons my '97 ought to edge out a TPI thirdgen... should put me to about 220 Hp

Be careful who you pick on! There are some 6 bangers down around with no badges.

I can still identify a TTA without badges Besides, what are the chances of running into one of those. I've NEVER seen one just running around on the street...

I grew up in Valparaiso Indiana.

What a crap hole.

But, back on topic. Until he sprayed? You sound bitter. Did you lose against someone with nitrous? Awww.

LOL, yea, it's not great. My comment was a joke really, Valpo is infested with fast and furious wannabes and if your car is faster than theirs, you must have lots of 'nos'.

Hah. I know how that goes.

I was up there a few times this past winter/spring.. And well. Yeah. I dont miss that place at all.

If you think there's a ton of cars like that up there.. then you've never been to florida.

There's a reason they shot the sequel to that movie here.
