87 Roc Vs. 93 Formula

ok, I met this kid working a construction job. Any way, we saw each others cars and started BS'in.
Turns out he has a decent setup. I will race him this upcoming weekend out at the local drag street. He wants to sell his car, $6500 takes it. If he runs good I will buy it, buy anyway,

93 Formula- Lt1-cold air intake. MAF. 306 cam. LT4 heads. 2500 stall converter. 3.23 gears. Exhaust of course. Hypertech chip. Im missin a couple other mods. Like I said, its a decent set up.

87 roc- see sig.

How bad is he going to kill me. And is the car worth it. It has 90,000 miles. Perfect shape. Like mint. What do you guys think his HP #'s are and what hes running in the quarter.

the way that LT1 is setup, it should be running high to mid 12s. From your mods listed, I'd say you're mid 13s or a bit higher. so, prepare to get schooled lol

it's up to you, I say keep your third gen cause 3rd gens are getting rarer and 4th gens are still very common. You could get your car runnin 12s easy, but as I said, it's all up to you.

Practice on the tree and you shouldn't lose to bad. Plus is he or you running dot tires or slicks? 6500 sounds good if everything is tip top. Good luck!

mid to high 12's? sounds like some BS to me!i say low 13's at most.

BTW you'll like your 3rd gen more when it comes to working on it.

If that formula is properly tuned he could be pushing 400 to the wheels. Without tuning he may be in the 350-380rwhp range. That CC306 cam is huge and he has it nicely matched to the high flowing LT4 heads. He is probably using the LT4 intake to match up to the larger ports on the intake side of the heads as well. So look out because that car is a 12 second car. Stock heads and cam LT1's with a full exhaust and intake are pushing 280 at the wheels. Now add a scary cam and huge heads + tuning and you got a screamer.

lol, you're joking right? a cammed, LT4 headed LT1 with a 2500 rpm stall is an easy 12 second car. if he is running 13s with all that **** done he either needs to get some new tires or learn how to drive. a hot cammed, good flowing L98 with an Lt1 intake is an easy 12 second car. he could hit mid 13s with just the stall, chip, and exhaust

your all diluded from reading this third gen board too much. go on over to the lt1 section at camaroz28.com. that car should be low 12's high 11's with a 306 cam and worked heads not to mention the rest of the goodies. your gonna get fried. i wouldnt buy a car thats been modded by someone else though. you can find a stock lt1 for cheaper than that and do it yourself. have fun either way.

like i said above, its not wise to buy a car like that. yeah its cool to have it be fast as hell right off the bat, but your going to run into problems quick. youd save in the long run by buying a stock one and modding it yourself. plus youll get the know how on how to put it back together when it falls apart.

If that car is tuned perfectly, it should be mid to low 12's with nice sticky tires.

definately 12s... theres a guy on cz28.com that has the CC306 with stock heads, with a 6 speed though, mid to high 12s and trapping upwards of 115 in the quarter with crappy tuning.

i agree with primer84z, i wouldnt buy a car modded too much by someone else, id be afraid of how they treated it, and what i was buying, well good luck either way around!

Well guys, bad news. Ive been going out to the spot that the races are, and he hasnt shown up...for a while. So, I havent got to race him, and Im not going to buy the car. Although I am in the market for a new car. The ROC has been giving me alot of problems lately. I will miss her.
Peace out-
ryan
