Got Sprayed

Me and a buddy were hang out in a parking lot last night shootin the bull and this guy pull's in, in a late 80's Mudstain GT and asks if me or my buddy want to race. My GTA is STOCK and this guys got 10in slicks on his car so I said no but my buddy was more than ready. I have no idea on what the Giant Turd had under the hood no lope at idel and he got on it leaveing the parking lot and wasent very impressive. My buddys car (my old car I had built for drag racing).
All I'll say is a carbed 355, anyway when they take off the Iroc pulls a front wheele off the ground with drag radials,I was so proud of the car.Anyway my buddy gets the stang by 3 cars off the line and by the 8th mile aera the stang hasen't gotten any closer then all of a sudden swoosh the stang flys by like the Iroc like it was parked. The Iroc was still pulling strong but it didn't help. We get back to the parking lot and then the guy tells us he has the bottle but didn't use it. It's mounted rite behind the drivers seat within reach of the front pass. seat. I beleave in useing what ya got I just thought it was a little sh!tty he lied about useing the bottle. Anyway I was proud of how my old car ran and that it only lost by 1 1/2 cars after being spraid.

By the way the race was at a closed down airport about 10 minutes from town. I DO NOT condone street raceing.
I lost a couple good friends a few years back to it and there's no since in it when there's a track a little over a hour away.

Transambill, your friend is luck he didn't run him for money. That Mustang GT was a "Sucker Car". No lopey idle, seems underpowered, but it wins races. Some of these guys will pop their hoods and show you their still running the stock 5.0 intake manifold.

Guy's comecome up from that neighboring town all the time. I don't know of any winning any races if they never spray.
There thing is to take a stang with a stock shortblock add some heads and intake and then spray the hell out of it.
Getting sprayed doesn't bother me,shoot if my car had the bottle I'ed use it to but to lie about it after doing it.If my buddy new he was going to get sprayed he would of used his 96 LT4 6spd. Vette with a fogger,His daily driver. He go's by Vett_Ness on these boards.

yeah, i gotta admit...I think it only shows that these ********* guys have a ****....and lack of ba11s if they're going around lying to get cheap thrills. Personally, I thought owning a ********* was a cheap enough(if not free for some) thrill in itself.
Some people.....just cant accept the truth, that real racers dont use nitrous. Its sad when you see people who supposidly support the first american car, step down to using bottles yet still claim they're all about real american muscle and steel....whatever...

How fast was the old car to be yanking the tires with no heat in them and no air pressure taken out (Im assuming you had not planned this race)?

He definately sprayed and its dumb to lie... but a win is a win!

My buddy is running BFG Drag Radials and he did drop the air pressure before the run.Beleave it or not he has worn out shocks/struts,BMR lower control arms and a Edelbrock panhard rod, thats it.He also has the BMR relocation brackets but I've yet to install them.My welder is on the fritz. He's now not sure if he's even going to use them since he's hooking so good.He has raced for years, did the usual routine heated the tires, etc.Even when he hasen't heated the tires he stil gets about 1 1/2 tire spin then he's gone.My biggest concern he Has Not put subframe connectors on the car yet and when he launches it ,the car twist like crazy.I have no idea what the car runs. This was his first race in the car and I just sold the car to him this winter. He wouldn't race the car till the rear swap. He went from 277's to 345's.
I never had it to the track when I owned it.Just some late night playing with other buddys.I ran a early 70's Hurst Olds with it and that car runs a consistant 12.80 and I still beat him by 4 cars with the 277's still in there. He has a Vericom he's putting in the car next weekend to get a idea of what he's running. And YES a win is a win. and before we get a flame going from the Mustang guys that frequent these boards I'm have nothing againt stangs in general it's just the guys around here take a stock car and add Flowmasters and think they have a racecar. I'll never give up 3rd gen's but I'ed kill for a 93 Saleen S351.

Anyway...

It was 1995 that they had the S-351 which was SCed. Rated at 490 hp, but the cars were well over 500 and had 11s out of the box (at about 120 mph) when driven to their best.

no kidding how is the tire wear on the car that is pulling wheelies with no sub frame connectors? i am only shooting for 13's but i am still concerned about putting sub frame connectors on there before i really launch it hard.

He's only been able to get one tire off the ground and I've noticed
That's theres a crack forming about a inch long on the drivers side where the roof and sail panel meet.It had just started when I had the car, maybe 1/8 long and I've noticed it's getting worse fast.

I never started this thred asking any questions. I just talked about a race I was witness to and how I thought it was a bunch of crap that one guy used the bottle and then lied about it.

Oh well, thats the turn the thread took, you didnt jump in and stop it or make any attempt to until now. If it bothers you that much ask them to lock it, I cant help it if someone asks me about my car or plans, I will be nice and answer them!

Also if it wasent for us Mustangs, you guys would have noone to get beat by!!!

transambill, relax man. They are just having car talk. It is swaying off the original topic but the question has been answered.

If you wanna stick around here, you'll need to realize Mustang guys are car guys just like us. They're exactly the same as us.
