Rx8

i was coming home from the beach about mid march. i was almost home and a rx8 rolled up to me at a light... well it went green and i just feathered the gas ( it was wet and i was spinning at a stand still)... it cought traction... i took off past him ... well i had to take a left really soon after... well he jurked in behind me and followed... it was a curvy road... i took it to the limit (without being out of control).. finally a straight a way... we were going about 110( he was about 3-4 back) when i heared a loud popping followed by a load whine from the rear... my rearend blew ... well at least i had fun... it worked out for the better.. i got a disk rearend with the G92 option(3.45) out of a 88 iroc-z just bought KYB G-92's, new roters, caliper rebuild kit... not to bad!?

Hey man, I'll tell you what they told me when I was dumb and did it, It's not cool to race in the rain or when the roads are wet, it is very dangerous, I would never do it again cuz I about died. Not trying to be a dick, just don't race in the rain.

With the help of an 8000-rpm clutch drop and the engine buzzing like a flock of angry hornets, the RX-8 scooted to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds at 96 mph.

man how long do you guys think that clutch would last under 8,000 rpm drops. just curious.and if these new rotary's respond to boost like the old ones did you better watch out. but i heard they were only good till like 100,000 miles or before and then they blow sky high.

My friend just bought one (04 6 speed) and he would have to really beat the crap out of it to be fast. It revs up smooth but VERY slow IMO. If it had deeper gears then it would be fast. A pro driver with all day to practice the launch MIGHT run a 14.5, but your average chuckle head will prolly do it in 15.3-15.5. I'd put my money on ANY L98 car, 2.77's , paper air filters and all.

don't know much about the aftermarket for the rx8
but I know for the N/A rx7's the aftermarket isn't that bad and companies are already producing parts for them
as far as how well these rx8's respond to mods I'm not sure but almost wonder if it will be as good as the rx7's
the way the exhuast was on the rx7 it responded very well to exhuast stuff
as far as reliability of the rotary for the N/A they are quite reliable
some have been known to go 300k+miles
most though seem to fall into the 200-250k mile range before going
