5.0 Vs Z28

My buddy with the Z28 (1986, LG4, 4*BTDC, some random muffler, 18" chrome IROC'S) Kept talking smack, so I told him let's go, pick a road (close by since I have no license untill April 13) and we're on. I follow him up my street and to a stop sign. I tell him to go and step on it, and I'll follow him. He goes "okay if you can keep up". So he does a John Force all through 1ST, chirps 2ND, and is at WOT. The whole time I'm riding his bumper. I go through 1ST, and shift into 2ND the same time I hear him shift. So I go WOT in 2ND, spin for a bit and pull along side him. hahahahah You should of seen his face! So I run out of gear, and chirp 3RD, and jump ahead of him by ~1.5-2 cars. then I shut it down.
He stopped talking his crap. I said want to drive her? When he was done he said, so what can I do to my car to make it this fast? heh, I told him what up and said to check out TGO for ideas. I just have a few mods but, as well as my favorite one, weight reduction! Coming soon.....Power adder.....S-trim? 100 shot? and D/R's...hmm...

Here are my specs:
-1986 Mustang GT 'vert
K&N, CAI, converted to MAF, bbk 70mm TB, TrickFlow Street Heat manifold, MSD6A, Accell cap/rotor/8mm wires, 14*timing, 180*thermo, a/c delete, factory headers, dual dumps, KYB struts, WCT5.

He was picking on me. I gotta say, he's a good driver though, dosn't mind powershifting....He already replaced the tranny and clutch after putting ~1000miles on then.

Use to race people for fun like my friends 93 Cobra Mint condition and before I could finish saying GOOOOWWSHHHH#@@#T!!!! he was ten cars in front of me! BUT I'VE BEEN DRINKING MILK! An this spring I'm going to get my Lasso an round up every STANG in the coral and BRAND THEM IROC!

The Gt feels noticably faster, but I've never taken either to the track.
TrickFlow huh? Popular choice for H/C/I with 5.0's. I have a Street heat intake, and plan on Twisted Wedge heads. You liking the TF heads?

Well I haven't got the chance to run it yet I'm still waiting on a wiring harness to come in and a few other suspension componets then hopefully by spring I will have it running. I did research an clearly AFRs are the best flowing but for the money Trick Flow aren't that far behind. Ever engine combo on the Web shows over 400hp which is good enough for me. I'm trying to set the car up to run a 25th 5.0 a friend of mine at work. He runs 8.64 in a 1/8 with a 2. something 60ft. I also have another friend with a 95 351 saleen running the same times. If I can get a better 60ft I think I'll have a chance the saleen was rated at 370-380hp an the 5.0 was running right with him of course he had it modified.

I'm also trying to run a 95 neon an let me tell you that thing sounds like a motorcycle with a CAM! It will cush a stock Cobra (maybe not the SC ones) an its all MOTOR! But he can't get traction he has to race from a roll. I road in it will him an I had to check my underwear when I got out!

If he's driving an LG4 and smack talking, then yeah, I have no problem with him getting whooped. He should've been aware that his engine is one of the wimpiest Camaro engines and kept his mouth shut.

I was running 8.88 in the 1/8th with my 93 GT and just exhaust and pulleys with a 2.08 60ft. You should have no prob beating that other guy with h/c/i.

My car runs 8.4s in the 1/8 on street tires with 2.0 60's. But that equates to a 12.9-13.0!

Yeah the guy with the 25th 5.0 had the engine fully rebuilt all forged equipment and the Gt40 heads were ported and polished. He also had a nice cam, headers, H pipe, flow mufflers, tranny rebuilt, bigger throttle body, injectors, fuel pump, a/c delete, no cat, 3.73 gears, no smog equiment, subframe connectors, and the battery was installed in the rear. From what I can tell his car and the saleen had some really bad traction problems. There was a 93 camaro and a 97 GTP racing them an every time the light turn green both of those cars were 2 car lengths in front of them an almost everytime the mustang caught them right at the end of the 1/8. The camaro and GTP was running 8.7 to 8.9. But there were a few time that GTP won driving skills of course. I guess if the mustangs had a good set of tires they would have done a lot better.

With that stuff done on street tires he sould be running the same if not better times then me. On slicks he could be well into the 7s in the 1/8th!

Well maybe not a 04 cobra I seen them dyno that thing on Horsepower TV one Sunday an it put down 364 at the wheels completely stock. Then they upgraded the computer with some unit that cost $300 it added 43hp and then they added exhaust and tried 2 different SC pulleys. After just adding bolt on parts that Cobra made over 420 hp at the wheels! I seen that episode twice and still can't believe it. Well I guess if you put a SC on a 350 there is no telling how much HP can be made.
