smoked a 05 nissan maxima!
I went for a cruise downtown. Pull to a light wich was 2 lanes tapering into 1. When he pulled out to intentionally get beside my passenger side I knew he had plans to blow by me and "show off". I wasn't gonna have that so when the light went green I rolled into the throttle in OD off idle since I have no traction. I heard him get on it hard so I put the hammer down when I "thought" I'd get traction. Chirped hard and rocketed 2 lengths on him instantly, got a little sideways into 2nd and pulled a little more then let off since we were coming up a hill, tapering and was in an urban area. When I let off he flew by me over the white line of the bike path since it was now one lane! What a jerk! I'm not some macho simpleton thats going to jeopardize me, my car or the people around me to say I won when I didn't, what a loser! They always do that to me EVERY TIME! The loser fly-by haha! I must say that car does move good for a six. Rated at 265hp. I had to be careful, that area is always crawling with cops. I wish I could of heard his in car conversation with his friend before the green, "watch this! I'm gonna smoke this old thing".

YA you gotta be careful with kids like that. Reckless kids like taht can cause all sort's of trouble for ya. not to mention if there woulda been a lil kid and his dad riding on the path or something, Especially since it's on a hill, you can't see whats coming up. good job for shutting down and not making things worse. But ya I'd say exercise a Little more caution in a situation like that next time, don't let adrenaline fog out your common sense.

It was at 1 a.m, but still dangerous, there still could have been a bicycle. Especially that we were approaching a hill and couldn't see the other side. Thats why I shut it down when we got to the foot of it. Plus I didn't want to fly over it like the duke boys. I was already satisfied with what happened. It was obvious that if my car hit 3rd he would of been way back there. I was very pleased with my car because I have no traction and lost it preety good twice and still pulled him hard. Those 4:10's rock, I just need LCA relocaters, adj tq arm and BFG'S and its prepare for blast off!

Nice kill, I think the Maxima is available with two engine sizes. My sister has the 3.2 (which would be the larger one rated at 265), which I drove for a week when she needed to borrow my truck. Nice car, it does have good power. I would say it could give any stock L98 a run and probably beat most. Its a little weird with the front wheel drive when it grabs it wants to jerk the wheel back and forth (I'll never get used to front wheel drive sports cars).
It would not be a problem for a mildly modded LT1 with 4.10 gears however. The Maxima doesn't have the torque. My sisters car with the Navigation system and everything was 35K, so hardly a car you will see young kids driving, unless they borrowed Moms keys.
As far as the Cats in California, alot of people swap parts in adn out before going to smog. So maybe he has a stock system he throws in once every two years. Then of course there are those that have connections to get their smog certificate. I have seen some pretty smog illegal setups around here that makes you wonder how they do it.

Underneath the car where the cat goes there's a pipe with flanges on either end. All I have to do is unbolt it when smog comes around, and bolt the cat in there for the smog test.
I can get past the visual part of the test, so pretty soon I'll be running Long Tube headers with air/egr and it's all I'll need

I always seem to get dogged my a-holes im Maximas. Last time i was playing with him, he was a bout 2 feet off my bumper at over 100 MPH. He couldn't pull around to pass me even though i was in fifth (gotta love 383 torque). So as the road opened i dropped to fourth and smoked him. When you pull some one so hard at a speed where they are starting to fight for accelleration they usuall go away.

Sounds like he wasn't going to "show you up," but rather just wanted to beat you to the narrow part. That doesn't excuse his poor attitude and reckless driving though.

If I had to guess I'd say mid-high 14s with the autos and a bit quicker if they can be had with manuals. Probably very similar to the Honda Accord V6, a bit slower than the G35/350Z body style that uses the same motor (albeit slightly more tuned).
