Walked a Stealth twin turbo!

I was out in my car when I saw a stealth fly by me. I immediately closed in on him to see if it was a worth while endeavor. My suspision was correct, a twin turbo. He had "93 TT" on his liscence plate. He was obviously very into his car, and rightfully so. It was red and absolutely mint! I tried to get loose so we could line up but couldn't and he was driving almost 2x's the limit. Finally caught a light behind him and he was first in line. He accelerated good enough for me to get into the left lane and then already rolling at about 20mph I hammered it while I was about a car length back. He heard me thanks to my dynomax bullet and got on it as well trying to keep me behind him. I drove by him slowly and continued to walk away slowly but handily all the way up to 90mph putting a couple car lengths on him! We caught the next light and I complimented his car. He gave me a funny look and I was like "no, I really like it, its mint". I guess he thought I was insulting his car since I beat him and I felt kinda bad about it after. The light went green and he didn't bother!

Well it actually is a Mitsubishi 3000GT underneath its skin, though I don't know if they were built here or overseas. Either way, they are nice cars, though I like the 3000GTs a bit better.

the vr-4 and r/t tt are both awd and 320 horse, should have raced him from a dig. not that you would lose or anything. But they are pretty dang quick. Parents used to have a tt stealth, i dont think i've ever been thrown back harder in the seat than when the waste gate would give full boost to the motor. Its crazy when it hits.

I believe the VR4 had four wheel steering and the stealth did not. They were both extremely heavy cars.

Actually, the Stealth had the All Wheel Steering. There are some pretty heavy electronics differences as well on certain years, but I'm not sure which has them. I know one of the cars has a wing that lifts up at a certain mph, and a button that allows you to do it manually, so essentially, you can wave at people with it.

Its an import. But a slick car to say the least! I was probably better off from the speed we were at since my car is very traction challenged right now and those cars are AWD I believe. Once I get my BFG's I'll have no fear, my car is a monster down low.

We just went over how the Twin Turbo version of both cars are AWD. I don't know how a car that is made here, and is bagged with "Dodge" on it is an import, but what ever.

didnt we also just go over how basically the entire car is a rebodied 3000GT? i dont care what label is on the hood, if its got the guts of an import, its an import

and who cares where a car is made? some Camrys are made here... does that mean theyre an American car?

just like the new Chevy Aveo is basically a Daewoo, the Stealth is really a Mitsu

So how would they treat the Stealth in Japan?

Dodge conjoined with Mitsubishi to make that car. They did it together, they held hands the whole time. It's less of an import than a Jaguar.

EDIT: But I don't want to talk about this anymore.

nice run! that LT1 must move well to walk one of those.

i had a race, very similar to yours when my L98 had just a catback on it. the stealth TT was a car back and going for a pass but i hit it about the same time he did. i stayed in front all the way to the end of second and broke the tranny so it couldnt go into third. i ran 2nd gear to 5500rpms! not good. lol he never gained anything till i hit 5000rpms in second where i should have been into third and continuing to hold my car head start lead. Great race. it was a early year stealth

"Built in Nagoya, Japan by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, the Dodge Stealth is the twin to the Mitsubishi GTO or 3000GT as commonly known in the United States. Although most of the Stealth was designed and built by Mitsubishi, the body styling is unique to the Stealth and was designed by Dodge. "

As previously stated it doesn't matter where the car is built. It's a dodge.

I don't think it being Isuzu has anything to do with it being crap. Doesn't it have some head gasket problem though?

Import or not, I would consider it a Domestic since it is a Dodge.. Nice kill btw, They usally hold thier own fairly well on the streets as 14 flat, high 13s in stock trim. Some mean machines I tell you what. I have a friend that has a Blue early 90's Stealth TT with a bov, exhaust and a few other things running 13 flat. Good Kill. Race him from a dig and see what happens

I went to high school with a guy that had a '92 3000 GT VR-4. AWD twin-turbo. Red with black racing stripes, 5 spd and dual exhaust with tips I could stick my fist in (literally; I did try it). Ran a best of 13.2 with tuning, exhaust, and intake, but he generally ran a 13.4. The twin-turbo Dodge Stealths also had a turbo-timer which the 3000 GT didn't have. The 3000 GT looks a lot better in my opinion and I wanted one really bad years ago when I first got my license. The non-turbo models are crap though. Just as heavy and 50 less hp. 92-96 models had 276hp with TT and 222hp N/A. In 97 or 98 when they redesigned the front end they jumped to 320hp. Partially because that gentlemen's agreement in Japan went out the window.

Hmm I thought they had 300HP from 92-96. Could be wrong though. I wasn't aware the Stealth RT's had a turbo timer stock, that's interesting. The VR-4s are the ones that had the adjustable wing to add downforce at higher speeds.

I always wanted one too. My first car was almost a '96 3000GT SL. Thank goodness I didn't buy an SL. Good thing I bought an even worse car as my first car which led into my second (this one!)

Actually the problem isnt in the head gasket. The problem is actually in the head where the rear of the right head actually will start to crack. I think if chevy would concentrate on all their cars. They would be so much better. They should have never passed up the oppurtunity to use the caterpillar motor over the isuzu built duramax. Also i believe chrysler as a whole collabirated with mitsubishi and still is because the motor in the sebring is still made by mitsubishi. There were also cars like the Chrysler conquest andthe mitsubishi starion(fast cars), which were exactly the same.

Yeah, the Starion and Conquest were also part of the DSM deal. DSM = Diamond Star Motors.

They got a Stealth R/t for sale at a dealer near the college i go to well they did they just sold it and where cleaning it up for the new owner in the back shop when i stopped by to visit a friend.......it was a very sweet looking car i really like the looks of those cars and i have heard they can be monsters but i never really researched the subject

I am considering trading my Z28 for a 3000gt though....its a tempting idea but i dont know if i could part with my 3rd gen

If you get a 3000GT, MAKE SURE IT IS A VR-4. You'll thank me later. The base model, SL, and rarer MR models are dogs without the two turbos.

I'm pretty sure that everyone knows that already, but just in case they don't, I'll reiterate the point as well. If you buy a 3000GT or Stealth that isn't TT, you're wasting your money.

Unless you just need a daily driver, or are buying the car for a first time driver (they think anything is fast).

I was planning on a turbo model.....if i sell my z28 to someone who is intrested in having a 92 5 speed and i should have enough money to swing one by looking at the prices for one around here which is about 10 grand or so
