I think you would win. Any Eclipse that isn't turbo sucks. The new 2006 Eclipse should be a little bit different story though.

The new eclipses are no joke for older cars, looking at their power levels this year. I have yet to see track times however.

I'd have to give this one to the eclipse.

Is it an '05, or an '06, because it will make all the difference. 3rd gen = blows, 4th gen = not so much.

I thought it said '06. They're the new body style right?

The '05s (older body style) were dogs. If your camaro runs correctly it'll take it off the line and hold it. I once test drove an '04, and was astounded by the fact that when I floored it.. it appeared to move no faster than it did at part throttle..

oh yea, the 05 is the old body style...i was thinking about the 06 too...hmm..it'd be close, i think the elcipse might still have the upper edge because you have a crappy 305...305 TPI would definately beat it probably...

This is the 2005:

This is the 2006:

If it's the top one, you have a chance. If it's the bottom one, probably not.

Well, you said it was the 4 cylinder. I think that the one I see on the commercials all the time must be the 6 cylinder, unless they really squeezed 240 hp out of their 4 cylinder motor. So maybe you still do have a chance.

The new 4 banger eclipse weighs 3300 lbs and makes 162hp and 162tq. I would say you should win a dig.

The V6 will have you. If you lose to the 4 banger your cars got problems.

I think you got a fair chance with this one, but then again it does depend on whether it's a four banger or a V6.

I know. Isn't it amazing how slow STI's, Evo's, Supras, and turbo DSM cars are!

You need to hang out at the track more and get away from the mall parking lot.

There is not a stock third gen that could touch any one of those cars listed above, save maybe the turbo trans am. Not only that but they can be made to go REALLY fast with little investment. I got alot of respect for those DSM AWD turbo cars. Did a couple of races against a modded one and it would beat me off the line but I would manage to pull ahead by the middle of the race. Won some money on that race.

Your sarcasm detecter must not be working right I know those cars would work over any stock 3rd gen. nitrous lx was saying that since imports suck he would lose soley on that basis.

yea imports can keep getting faster and faster, but the fun to drive aspect still never goes up....i drove my buddy's modded srt, and yea its sweet at first, just because its something new to drive...but after the speed aspect sets in, the car gets boring.....in my opinion, I'd take a less modded camaro or TA over a super fast import....you can have so much more fun with a rear wheel drive vehicle, and do stuff that you can't do with FWD or imports with no torque...

What does FWD and torque have to do with imports?

becasue the majority are FWD and have no torque....and the ones that are RWD, you ever seen them try to do a burnout....they get em spinning, and then they just catch right away cuz they have no torque to keep it going...

Heard one the other day, sounded like a big fat bumblebee trapped in a steel applejuice can.

I've considered writting a book and calling it the "Science of the Cans".

Maybe a movie too called "The Silence of the Cans".

by reading this thread I lost a few IQ points....ugh

I love the folks who say "Imports arent fun to drive like domestics" and "All imports are slow" and "Imports have Fart cannons blah blah blah"

Wake up and realize your car is NOT the fastest thing out there. The imports, when properly modifed, are damn evil little bastards. MY buddy has an AWD 90 Talon and he converted over to auto, stall, and bunches of bolt ons and mods and when we took a ride, my ***, that thing scared the living **** out of me. we sat at a light and he started spooling up and his AFTERMARKET brakes couldnt even hold the car, which is sitting on 4 BFG G-force t/A DR's!!! Once he hit 28psi, he let off the brake and that thing was nasty and when he shifted at around 8800RPM, it got even scarier, cause I was pinned in my seat. once he gets his cage in, I see mid 6's in his future (1/8th).

Keep on dreaming imports have no potential just like so many of you do with Mustangs and you'll get your *** handed to you many times to come.

And with that you're out of here

yeah I see your point why would I drive my rx7 when I can go drive an 80's nova

kinda like an iron duke thirdgen right?
I mean I see your point though with domestics

cavalier, 80's nova, malibu, baretta, corsica, focus, neon, all power houses. and can easily spin those tires into oblivion. I knew I should have bought one of those cars for the pure power I could have.
