IROC > Yamaha R6

buddy of mine has a 04 R6 with a pipe and power commander, we were having a debate about racing my car vs his bike, he said i'd need the spray to beat him, i said no way so we went out.. he wanted to go from a slow roll cuz his first gear is nothing but wheels up action and my 1st gear is nothing but smoke so i started in 2nd about 40mph, beeped 3 times, my car spun a bit down low (didnt heat up the ET streets) but i pulled him about 1-1.5 cars till i hit about the top of 3rd then i got out of it cuz i was still pulling, he wasnt catching me.. ran the same race twice and same outcome

... of course races were taken place on an enclosed track for safty reasons ...

pump gas small block stroker, big cam, big heads, big everything Car runs upper 10s on motor and mid-high 9s on spray.. The R6 was keeping up no doubt but i was steadily pulling away from it. Oh ya i had a passenger in the car too who was 'supposed' to be recording the runs but forgot to press the big red button that says 'record'

No reason for me to lie, the pics you posted speak for themselves The OrangeIROC for sure is one of the most known/feared car in the area now. It can for sure play with the big boys around here.

I don't know about Saturday, I don't think i'll be able to keep up, 11 second cars and lower > low 14 second IROC

That is one of the nicest IROC's I've ever seen. Beautiful car. However, I couldn't do that with mine. In Colorado, it's illegal to go backwards in technology. You couldn't start with a fuel injected car and put a carburetor in it. Although, you could fuel inject a car that used to be carbureted, since that's heading forward in technology.

I'm not sure why that is. If you can get it to pass emissions, why should the smog ***** care? Technically, it was illegal for me to replace my single exhaust with dual exhaust, but they've never called me on it. Once it hits 25 years old, I can do whatever I want with classic plates. So it's got another 3 emissions tests (every other year). Then I'm home free.

I see why now that you can run harder than a crotch rocket. It's not impossible, I've seen it many times at the dragstrip. Truly fast cars, despite their weight, can take down a crotch rocket on the strip. But typically they have to be in that 11 or 10 second zone.

Nice ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks man, ya the laws are different from state to state, some harder than others, there are ways to get around some of them and some just totally bone u. there is nothing wrong with fuel injection, actaully next summer i'm looking to buy a 94-95 Z28 with a 6spd so i can have the best of both worlds, dialy driver street toy and a street/strip track car. I'm heavily into bracket racing/heads up racing, i've been doing alot of bracket racing with it this year, getting the suspension dialed in, next summer will be mostly on spray racing heads up, i wanna hit a few NSCA NMCA shows when they come to local tracks.

I am interested in playing with fuel injection but i want to do that on an all out street toy, the reason i want a 94-95 6spd fbod to pimp out, i figure its a real good cheap base to start playing with. Stick with the fuel injection since you have to by law and make it work, there are injected cars in my area that are flat out nazty, study up and u'll be flying and also legal to pass emissions anything is possible

I've never heard that you can't do that in Colorado, I thought it was just a California thing. I would almost bet you money that you could do that and no one would even notice. You've been to the emissions place, they have no idea about anything and just move the heard along.

Also, I don't think it has anything to do with going backwards in technology. If anything, I think you're not supposed to have an older motor in a car, but like I said, they wouldn't know. I think that you could easily make the argument that even though they don't use carbuerators on cars anymore, that buying a brand new set-up isn't exactly going backwards in technology. You are right, if it passes, no one cares.

in california those buys really are some stupid smog ****'s

my mazda has failed smog before I owned it( according to carfax)
and right now I know it wouldn't pass smog.
if I put a ls1 in my mazda which we all know is going to be more smog friendly then my rx7 would be it would fail smog
why?
because even though I moved ahead in technology and even though the ls1 is going to give me much better smog numbers
and even though the ls1 prolly would give me much better fuel economy (means even more smog friendly as I am burning less fuel)
I would fail all because that motor didn't come in my rx7 stock.

that's a bunch of junk
