IROC > Blown Foxbod

Kid in the area has a 88 Gt, 306 with a vortech, it runs pretty good, best i seen was a 7.43 in the 1/8th.. Well turns out he works with my brother and brags all day about how fast his stang is, so my bro tells him to go find me and race me. Well we met up at the track one night, never got to line up but he was keeping his eye on me, watched me run repeated 7.0's NA all night long. Well pulling out of the track guess who's in front of me, mr.mustang, so i paced him for awhile, he kept goosing it reving, now remember its dark out and all he sees is iroc headlights. so finally we hit a light he moves over ad lets me next to him, i pull up with a stupid grin on my face, he looks over and then looks the other way, starts talking to his passenger.. ?? I see his passenger looking over so i no there talking about me. c'mon now u dont wanna run? light goes green i pulled out slow, gave it a little goose to see if he'd go, nOpE, he wouldnt even come up next to me nemore, haha, kills by intimidation rule NEway some 84 TA pulled up infront of him, put his window down (he had to have been high) and yells at me "Now thats what i'm talking about! Thats a bad mother F'n car!" lol fun times..

Definately a nice combo there, mid 9s on a street car, hard to knock anyone running that!

LOL mpg sux!! i havn't actualy figured it out but its pretty expensive. Last time i went to the 1/8th mile track i drove it there, maybe 15 miles away? made about 8-10 passes and drove it home, i went through a little more than a 1/4 tank of gas, i dont know maybe thats not too bad.

thanks for all the compliments, its been alot of work getting this thing to where its at now

Seems like that works out to about 10 MPG. Not bad at all considering how fast it is. And that is with a ton of WOT launches. I wonder how much HP it puts out. Would be nice to know.

I am gonna drop a 500 HP 383 with a T-56, a 21 bolt and a 750 DP. I am betting on about 10 MPG when screwwing around. And about 17 highway due to the .50 6th gear.

Either way, Those wheels up look absolutly awsome.

This is my first car I am building, must feel crazy the first time it gets off the ground.

thanks again y'all, yes i have never run anything but 93 octane in it, thing runs great. and yes the front tires/rims are pretty heavy, 55lbs each, over the winter i'm gona give up my sleeper status and put on some Weld Aluma stars, that plus a couple other things i am shooting to run 6.8s on motor, but we'll see.. Hmm 10mpg isn't bad at all i guess, i never took the time to figure it out but that sounds about right.

Oh and as for dyno #s, i think i posted in my other kill story, it made 550hp and 500ft.lbs NA on 93 octane

Full interior, stock seats, power windows, power locks, wipers & squirters work, heater works, front and rear bumpers still in, hardly any weight reduction has been done other than adding aluminum parts to my motor, if anythign i've added more weight with the aftermarket torque arm and 8pt bar. Car weighs approx 3400 without me in it, i'm about 180lbs, there are interior pix posted in my other kill: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=323685

Very nice car. I am going to be getting my 500 HP 383 soon mated to a T-56 and 12 bolt. I have some weight saving stuff done too. Do you think I can run even in the same ballpark as you with a NX plate system and a T-56? Thanks.

he will be running 9's with the spray. 550hp is his n/a number and 7.0's in the 1/8 n/a equates to 10.90's-11.1's in the 1/4.

You are correct my friend.. add a 250 shot on there and hang on tight..

One of my goals with this car was to NOT gut the car, i want it to be a STREET car which means when your windows fog up you turn on the heat, or if your front window is dirty you hit the wipers & squirts, etc.. It is a true street car. BUT i think over the winter i'm gonna remove the front and rear bumper supports to shed a few pounds, im' sure i'll find a few little brackets here and there as well to remove, and add a few more 'go-fast' bolt ons that i've left off, along with a set of Weld wheels for more weight reduction, i'd like the car to run consistant low 6.9s, maybe 6.8s NA and then spray deep into the 6's or 9's in the 1/4

By the way those times you are running are great I would love to see that kind of time out of my car when i am done.

i have a champion fiberglass products hood on my car and is very very similiar to the cervini's 3" cowl hood. for a car that looks like it came from the factory with a cowl hood, this is the hood to go with.

Yeah that smaller cowl looks good. I think I am gonna wait till the motor is in and everything to get some final measurments. The high single plane edel. intake then the N20 plate, and the 750 DP holly not to mention the air filter. I dunno. I might need more hood, we will see.

Anyways. sorry for the tangent.

Thats the problem i ran into, originally i wanted teh stock hood on it, when i couldnt ahve that i wanted a smaller cowl like an SS hood or cervini but when it came down to my final measurements it didnt work out.. thats the reason i have that small little air cleaner on there now cuz thats all taht will fit, it goes right up to the top of the hood, maybe .5in to spare..

yeah i am scared of that. I would like to stay away from super close fitment. I know the Junglboed (sp) hood has a hole cut into it for a filter to come up. But I am not clear what the total hight is on the cowl. Either way I guess I have to wait for the motor and stuff to desided. I just hope I don't need anything like a 4". This is a street car and I hear 4" gets annoying.

thanks street lethal, it means alot!

oh dennis, my father has the same hood as snksknr and it is way too much for a car that sees REGULAR street time, but is a whole heck of alot of fun in a car that comes out friday/saturday nights!

edit: i just thought of something, what about a fogger system instead of a plate system? might work better for your application since your trying to get a smaller hood on there. also, my buddy Todd Merkel (big in the EFI racing with NSCA, PRO Edelbrock series) actually modified his k-member/motor mounts to drop the motor 1" to fit the smallest cowl he could find. he's running like a 1 1/2" cowl on his TA. it's pretty. since you have a tubular crossmember, this may be even easier for you to do.

Hmmmm, damn that is a nice idea.

I wonder how it would effect other things down the line. I woudn't think too much. If the k-member wasn't powder coated and if I could weld like a pro, i would right away. Maybe next year, then I will have a crap load of $ and I can do EFI and a blower instead of this crazy set up I am gong to do now.

Thanks for the heads up about the 4". Maybe a cervini 3" will be what I go with. it is a 3 season a year car. and I will only take it out for nice rides and stuff. Not like every single trip out. Well I will try to. hehe.

Yeah I'm from Lockport. It's funny you mention WNY F-Body because my shop teacher just recomended the other day to check it out. His work is mostly w/ late model Mustangs and he said that the guys on that board really know thier **** when it comes to LT1 and LS1 tech. *I'm currently planning for / buying parts for my LT1 rebuild*
