89 GTA vs 04 Srt-4
What do you guys think? My 89 GTA 350 TPI auto 120,000 CAI, hooker catback, upgraded tranny against stock srt-4? Will he slaughter me or will it be close oh and he can drive decent too?

I know for a fact a stock srt-4 is capable of a 14 flat, ive seen a friends timeslip for his stock (down to rubber and spark plugs) car.
So they will definetely give you a run for your $. Depends on the kind of race, basically you own him off the line and then he'll catch you down the track. This is assuming your car is running well.

Starting from a roll will give him the advantage. What you have on him is torque and traction (rwd). The higher the initial start the more likely he will leave you in the dust.
My mild iroc was able to keep them @ bay from a stop no problem, from a roll (esp highway speed) they still gave me a run.
Sounds like your geared well already a lil more stall maybe ram air ( a/c flexible ducting and a lil clean up under the air filter works well) and some dremel time on the ol' tpi setup, shorty headers and some 3in exh will work wonders.

even from a dig those fairy dusters are fairly quick. I raced a stage 1 neon and he was right with me from a dig. I didn't start pulling on him till the end of second. Maybe headers, stall, and drag radials u will kill him

The point I'm making is that I see the same times as people at sea level, which means that those people are worse drivers. Turbo cars lose about half a second in the quarter mile, while supercharged and N/A lose about a full second. Just in case someone didn't know that very broad and unspecific rule of thumb.

stu is right, these neons are quick and should do lower 14's.. my friends does mid high 13's and he is basically stage 1 tune and bigger downpipe. he traps 104.
stock for stock tho, L98 will have its hands full for sure. mild mods l98 that runs great should be capable of high 13's. that will be pretty close to SRT4's from any race, roll or dig

You are going to need some more mods.
Go to the track, get a baseline. Then get some Headers, runners and intake, and some good traction along with all the little free mods such as tb bypass, filter, gut air boxes, ect. Then you should have em.

These mods should put you in the 13.9-14.1 range. Also alot of people say a good torque converter with a 2600-2800 stall really helps out.

And they are cute.
They look like little smarties or skittles when they are painted with those funky colors.
