i raced an 06 vett with my formula
it all started like this. im driving home from work around 11.00 at night. i get to this red light and with no one around this vett pulls up. it was the right time no one in sight. he reved is engine at me i look over its a guy in a suit and tie. i nod my head and wait for the green. i knew i was going to lose but i wanted to see how i do vs a 2006 corvette. SO the light turns green we both hit it i got him of the line for about 5 seconds then he past me up. i was very happy i thought he was going to get me off the line.

I believe it L98 cars are kings of the short stoplights. I used to dust LS1 vettes and F-bods in my bolt on only 90 GTA and 90 vette. Dragradials, converter, catback, should be enough for a stong running L98 to take a C6 at a light. I haven't ran up against one yet in my Formy, but the look on a $50k Vette drivers face especially if their with a wife/GF getting beat at a light from a 15 year old $3500(with mods) Firebird gonna be priceless.

I'm just saying there seems to be some predjuice on the drivers of vettes on the board... if I was me in my vette I would give props to the work done on the third gen... not wonder why my shiny ***** got beaten by a cheaper car... money does not allways equal speed... buy a h1 if you need proof of that

I would of bought a third gen or a older Rx7 and shoved a big block in it and been way faster... I do enjoy the reliabilty and no-fuss power while pulling down 25 MPG...

Here's a few specs on that Bugatti:
At the moment, the Bugatti Veyron appears to have it all:
A W-16 engine that can produce 1,001 horsepower
A top speed of 250+ mph (400+ kph)
A zero-to-60 time of three seconds
A zero-to-180 time of 14 seconds
A price tag somewhere in the $1.2 million range.

I can assure you,
The L98 standing a chance off the line is not far-fetched.
I dont know what else you have done to your IROC
383/auto/3.73 car .. BUT, I hope your C6 aint stock,
because 06's arent untouchable ...
...And every dog has its day

Ill go even farther than that,
I believe a properly built L98 can run a LSx not just off the line,
But if you get him good enough, you could have the whole race

Don't under estimate the low end power of the TPI. <----Darth Vader voice.
I love my TPi car and all, but aren't the LS2's torque monsters compared to LS1s? They put down over 360lbs to the wheels. Which is a bit more than an L98. Of course I don't know at which RPm that occurs, but I'm still skeptical about even an intersection race.
TPI, where in southern AZ do you live?

Im over in Mesa/Tempe area
Oh dam, Your in chandler, Im close to you indeed
Havent I PM'd you before?
Yea, Im not too sure what a Modified L98 can do against a LS2, but I wouldnt rule out anybody's build .. Ive seen stout L98 Iroc and T/A cars out here at speedworld runnin' consistent 12's ..
I believe that might be enough to give a LS2 a run
for its money.. but you never know, that's what makes it fun

A L98 might stay with a ls2 for a second off the line but once he gets above 3500 rpms or so, say good buy.
I've been trying to get this guy (in his mid 20's) who just bought a 06 Vette to go with me, but all he does is laugh at me. Maybe one of these days he'll go for it so i can finaly have the laugh

well anything modded is a different story but you're going to have to have to have quit a few mods keep up. Its going to take quit a few mods to keep up with 350ish to the ground in a lighter car.
