Raced a WRX last night

Let me tell you that was fun, some of the best runs ive ever had on the street. I dont normally race on the street but i had just come back from the race track and picked up my camaro from my girl's house and i felt like having some fun with my car for the ride home. I was turning left at a light when i saw him go by, it was all black, black rims lowered, could hear the exhaust, gauges on the a pillar, looked good, sounded good. Then a SOM WS6 T/A went by all stock it appeared. I just wanted to check the cars out so i sped up and gave a wave to the WS6, he didnt want to race i could tell then i cought up to the WRX, he downshifted and was ready to go! lol. So i downshifted into 2nd(Going about 45) and punched it and i wanted to see how fast hed blow by me but surprisingly he didn't. Car was coming up in my lane and i let out quick he looked like he was gonna pull me hard if i didnt let off I could hear his turbo spoolin up. Car definently wasn't stock and i was saying in my head "I dont have a chance if we actually line up" So we did anyway, from about a 40mph roll, i started in 3rd as did he, i pulled him from the start and it stayed that way but he started gaining quick till he had to hit 4th, then i hit 4th after he did and i had about a 1 car length lead. We raced a good 5-6 times, all with the same result, i was out in front by about a car. I kept thinking i was getting a jump so i let him do the honking on a couple of races and i made sure he hit it first but i still pulled him . A little slower roll from about 35-105 we were almsot neck and neck the whole time. If we would have kept going into 5th he would have taken me, i was out of breath at the top of 4th. Only once he got me was when i missed 5th gear and i was about let off anyway. It was a lot of fun and i really was surprised how well i did. Not bad for the ole' L98 with 133k miles on her.

Re: Raced a WRX last night

They are overrated. Those cars are suppose to be neck and neck with EVO's and I have already blew the doors off of a black evo here at the track.

Subaru's do not have as much potential as people think they have. I never seen one over 600WHP, how many SBC's have we seen over 1000hp?

Just so you know, I think you could have taken him from a dig. AWD is great but you over estimate them and their weight. Plus when you hit Second gear is when you would stomp on them anyways even if they out launch you.

there's actually been quite a few making numbers over that. the motors are not as old as the Evo 4g63t, so its taking awhile for tuners to start making the combos to make the power but there are alot of drag cars making upwards of 800awhp or so. lots of street cars in the 450-500whp range.

good runs stevo! L98 with a T56 must be fun!!

nice runs steve...

kinda off topic, but approximately how fast do you think you could get your car on the street considering all factors--gearing, trans, PROM, tires, etc. ?

You are right a 4G63 has been around over 20 years. However, as for the subarus, it is irrelavent to say that because a couple people got 800 hp out of a subaru should mean it has potential.

I have personally seen a turbonetics Celica that was 1500 hp but does that mean it has potential? No, by the time it was done it wasn't even the same car. Plus you could not drive it on the street.

I have seen these 600-800 imports in magazines. They have gutted interiors and more stickers than a nascar.

Look into a muscle car magazine and you can find a 1000HP LS1 that is daily driven with full interior. With a clean body and no stickers.

Re: Raced a WRX last night

STI's are very different from the base WRX's. 70+hp more with a bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, and much better trans. The STI's are only a couple tenths of a second behind the EVO's. You need to get out on the streets more and stop reading those magazines cuz I know in Phoenix we have a multiple STI's and Evo's in the 600+awhp range that are DD. Those WRX's can be made pretty quick on a budget. The Evo's can run 11's for under 3 grand.
To the OP, good kill and even if he did have a faster car doesn't mean he can drive it. Those are the best kills, knowing you just out drove them.

Your right, I need to stop racing on the track and endangerous innocent lives, and if I am lucky I might be able to mess up a couple families.

A couple tenths of a quarter is not what I would call "Very different"

11's with 3 grand? Wow... Imagine what I could do with a $35k car and $3k extra.
Probably about what I am doing now with a $1000 car and an extra $7k.

Take a WRX with a $500 N20 kit and your precious STI is nothing but a silly little Acronym

But we were in a Ford Excursion with a Banks System

Re: Raced a WRX last night

I allway's find it funny that they can take a 4 cyl car and drop $10 grand in it.

I can take a SB car and drop $3 in it and stomp all over it?

Kinda makes you wonder about those rice burner's?

I played with a guy at work's (built) evo he wanted to run one night and i was behind him playing the old keep up with me if you can game and stayed right on his butt. He hit it hard and hit the bottle and i opened it up then had to let off quick. Next day infront of all his fellow rice buddy's he said, i had you didnt i?

I repliyed yep you had me alright!

I thought you had something under that hood so i hit the gas and allmost had you in the rear before i slammed on the brakes to keep from hitting you.

Re: Raced a WRX last night

Continue to argue the point about 4/cy car its proven you would have to send a lot more for the same hp as a V8 so just drop it. People if you want a WSX, RX8, RSX fine but tho’s car for the price they cost pulse the money given to make them fast would be a lot more then A Camaro with a 350, LT1, LS1 engine. WSX sti i've raced one in a 1/8 mile track and blow it away are they worth the $25,000 to say " I have an STI" who cares about AWD you lose to much hp throw the tranny posi trac is all you need.

Actually a properly driven STi is a lot faster than "a few tenths" over a regular WRX but keep thinking you know everything.

You really are retarded aren't you? I said the STI's are only a few tenths behind the EVO's, they are over a second faster than the WRX's. The STI have a completely different transmission, completely different block (2.5L compared to a 2.0), different suspension, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, should I continue?

Ignorance truly is bliss, because some people live in worlds where what they "think" keeps them happy, and if they knew the truth they wouldn't be able to sleep at night!

We have STIs in the area that 600+ rwhp KBed 03 Cobras wont go near, and we even have a mid 10 second street EVO I guess making 900 whp? Car looks stock as well!

Who cares about what? Because you sure seem to care enough to come on to this post and respond... If you don't like hearing about fast imports, head back to your world, and put your head under your pillow, you wont hear anything.

Re: Raced a WRX last night

that AMS evo with the 2.3 and 42 psi is damn near unstoppable. i dont think i've seen a car take it out yet. they had a recent run with a foxbody stang with a 347 stroker on 20psi from a vortec blower and plus a nitrous shot on top of that and it still couldnt bring the Evo down! its not fair. the 4g63T is also the first 4 cylinder motor to power a car into the 6 second range in the 1/4. not bad

I hate to break it to you but I know a few members of this board, and a lot of people know me. I will not leave your precious little board, no matter what I own.

If you don't like my "byast" opinion, then skip right over it.

Relax there big tough. Modded M3? OH NOES.

He's on here because he knows people from this site. He also isn't a jack *** like half the people on this site have become.

So what's your modded M3 run? Let's set up an internet PINKS episode

so you're calling us idiots but you want to build up a 305?? no one's bashing a tA for a stang, you came on here stirring things up and we stated the obvious...a 5.0 chevy vs a 5.0 ford...the fox will win. Secondly you bash him for talking about his mustang and then you bring out the M3 you have, maybe it you that should be on another forum..obviously no one gives 2 sh**s about you're opinion, so how bout bring some knowledge into the boards instead of filling it up with nonsense

wow here comes its stupid to build a 305 retard... actually that dosent make me a jackass at all. yes im stapping a blower on a lb9 with 40k original miles. and when and if this motor ever blows a new crate 350 will go in its place. so what is so stupid about building a 305??? many of them on here can run 13's easily and 12's with a power adder do a search there here.. i guess im just talking to the more ignorant people on the site..

Re: Raced a WRX last night

because you can spend the same money and go twice as fast with a 350..... thats why its stupid to build a 305.. Yes there is a few on here that can run 13's or 12's hell when my car was stock it ran 13's on spray but to me and MOST anyone else 13's is less than impressive in terms of a power adder car.

Re: Raced a WRX last night

yes you are right, u can go twice as fast with a 350. but putting a procharger on a tpi u can run mid 12's instantlly. and thats were i want to be.. its not a track car. its a weekend summer street cruiser.. with looks that kill. so i really dont need to go any faster.. with 10+ pds of boost thats all i need to mess with and probablly beat most other cruisers around the streets here.. and like i said.. a 350 in the future is certanly not out of the question.. but why remove a perfect low mile sbc.

I just wanna know if it was a WRX or an STi that you ran Stevo! I'm guessing WRX. I ran an STi in my all stock 700R4 L98 from a roll, and hung with him for a minute and then he ran away from me at higher speeds.

like i sail. besides serious track cars, mid 12's is pretty fast stacked up to 5.0 stangs c4 and c5 vettes and mostly bolted up 4thgens, oh and a shitload of ricers ,yeah i wouldnt say its slow..like i said just a street cruiser is what im building, i dont ever plan on putting slicks on it. just a fun tire roasting 12 se3c car here i may know youre uncle what color is the t/a is he in the l.i.f.b.a. club?

So you want to run my Audi, sure... give me 2 days. I have ebnough resources to have a mid 13 second Audi pretty easily. would I waste my time with that, nope, I have my fun car, it's not my fault you have a faster DD then weekend car. Who's the retarded one here again?

Trust me, nothing homosexual here, and the fact you brought that up, leaves questions unanswered, but whatever you do is your own thing.

HAHAH boost to run mid 12s. I am just going to continue to laugh, that you have owned a car for 12 years, it is slow, and you need boost to run in the 12s. I think the retarded thing is coming out again.

Well that was a good laugh, back to the Mustang boards, where they dont need power adders to go 12s!

Maybe a mild 5.0, but anything with HCI will run 12s all day. Hell I did it without HCI or a power adder, but then again your M3 can take care of the cars your Fbody loses to!

I'm not sure of the color or the club, I havent spoken in a while to him and he might have gotten the car painted so IDK. I wasnt trying to defend his mustang I just know he can drive that car and that he knows his sh*t when it comes to those cars. I'm no mustang fan believe me but they are fast cars I'll admit that, but when it's time to line up with my friends 88 notchback stang I'm going to show him what chevy power is all about!
