Re: Can I beat a Mustang?

13.5 is about the best I've seen out of a stock LT1 fbody, it was '97 SS. I have heard of some 93's being freakishly fast for some reason.

Kind of a shame the LS1's overshadow LT1 so much since it doesn't take much to get them to run well. My 97 put out 297 rwhp and 321 rwtq with Cai, LT's, ory, cutout, 1.6 RR's, and a basic tune through an auto with a 3400 stall converter. I thought that was pretty good for having 100k+ on the odo

93 was a poop year f-body wise when speaking for the lt1. Between using batch firing and Speed Density the cars were turds.

some things brought up when looking at lt1 f-bodys
93 batch firing/only year for speed density
94 had case hardened pushrods(idk why lol)
95 had goofy obd2 connector but still has obd1 computer(no chip)
96 intro to obd2 computer and dual cat
97 minor tweaks to computer

actually, alot of people seem to think the 93's were a bit stronger than other years of the LT1 fbodies. dont know why. come to think of it, the fastest bone stock LT1 fbody was a 93' that ran a 13.4

Very true. It wasn't until 96 that people started to catch the 93's. I think the 92 and 93 LT1's were "ringers". Maybe because they were new?

93 was the last year of the "chip". Hardened pushrods lasted into 95 and also was the first year for the vented Opti. 96-97 also got a better coil/wires/plugs because of OBDII.

should be a good race. Tell him you will race, let him go on about him being faster than you and just see what happens. You should hold your own. Hes not going to kill you. Just get it over with, because you will eventually find each other on the street and it will not be ideal for safety. You have the torque of the L98 which might make up a bit for your weight.

You just might win! then you will have to put up with reasons why he lost. lol.
