I'm bored and i was reading about a accident another guy had so i figured i'd start a topic. My first accident was when i was 16, I was driving my parents huge jacked up F-250 with a big cow killer bumper on front. I was pulling onto I-45 and was being a jack*** and not paying attention, needless to say there was a car in front of me, a Yellow nissan Xterra, ANNIHILATED his car, 7000$ in damage with no insurance on my part. The Truck....a few scratches on the paint of the bumper. I would post pics but i never got any sadly. Ok now its your turn, i wanna hear about your first accident. post pics if ya got em, oh and by the way i didnt know where to post this so i posted it here.....we really need just a general talk thread section.

Never hit another car... I've really not had any notable accidents except for the time I lost my wheel doing about 60. The wheel stayed with the car til I got off the road and protected the drum for the most part. The drum still works fine, just looks a little gnarly. All I had to do is replace the wheel with one of my spare IROC wheels, 5 lugs and a full set of nuts... what I had on there did not match the taper of the holes.

MY accident is pretty effed up. I live in the country and travel the same road every single day now for the last o 3 or 4 years to school. There is a spot where i cali stop thru the stop sign. and for the last 4 years i have never seen another vehicle there EVER!!! So it was just another day got in my car started it and started going. i got to the stop sign and slow and kept going, little did i know A frikin Tractor was about to rape the **** out of me. I was listening to Hard metal when it happened. as i went past the sign next thing i know is BAM !!!!!!!!! o snap ill post pics... the Tractor had spikes on the front of it. but thnk god i didnt hit them.

My first accident was 2 weeks after i got my permit. I was driving my moms jeep wrangler (really nice jeep) an i was being a smart *** thinking i already enw everything about driving an i came to a stop sign an wanted to go right, but when i pulled out doin mabye 5 mph i turned the wheel 2 far and... there was a embankment there and of course i drove right up it an really slowly it kept goin cause i didnt get the clutch back in , and then really slowly we tipped over onto the drivers side. of course i hadda drop a coupel f bombs an such, but the best part was that the only damage was the mirror and a lil dent on teh windsheild frame, also some minor scratches on the fender. thats my story and my second accident was in my Z i was leaving school an it was wet out gave it to much gas (not on purpose) an i ziped around an right into a bush lol. even tho it was first accident i just wanted to post that one to.

First accident on public roads, or first accident? My first collision was repeatedly smashing a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis into other cars until the transmission gave out (stupid Ford). But thats a demo derby, and not what I think your asking about

My first accident happened last year when a Dodge Dakota destroyed the back left end of my Mitsu Lancer, doing $3,400 in damage. The Dakota had a $50 scratch on it. He ran a stop sign and slammed into me. His wife then told me the accident was my fault, because had I gotten through the intersection faster (and I wasn't going slow by any means) he could have ran the stop sign without incident. I asked her to take her alternate reality elsewhere...

About 2 years ago (Dec 23rd to be exact) I was pulling out of my bank with my Jetta (GLI, modded to hell) and a young girl ran the stop sign and clipped my front bumper. Didnt do crap to her car, mine needed $4000 since it pushed the whole frontend over.

ya some people r really stoopid when u do somthin dumb like run a stop sign it donsent mater how fast the person u hit was goin u ran the sign and if u stoped everyone would have been fine.some people

My first accident was a couple of months after I got my license. I was in a 1990 Astro van and leaned over for a second. Next thing I knew, I hit an embankment and flipped it over onto the driver side. My dad wasn't too happy with that. Funniest wreck I had though was my other one. I had just bought my 1989 firebird off ebay in Nov 2004. Was gonna be in my sister's wedding in December, so she was making me get a hair cut. My heater didn't work, and the windshield was frosted, so I made a little hole to see out of. Drove 1 block from the house, turned right.... and ran head on into a cop car. He said it was my fault, of course, but luckily he didn't give me a ticket.

Ill share the ones Ive been in the car for though-
1) it was January and the highway was icy, my moms van spun out right into a snow bank. 2 hours later the second tow truck was finally able to pull us out (the first tow truck blew something while trying to pull us out!) we excaped with a little dent on our drivers door.
2) last summer me and my bro went for a cruise in his camaro, we had just replaced the distributer and if we brought the old one to napa we would get $20 for it. I was in the pass seat lookin at the chipped gears and such and he claims I distracted him cuz next thing I know I hear him yell S**t so I look up to see us ram into a ford windstar. it was an old one and he let us go cuz he didnt even get a scratch in his paint while we need a new hood, bumper cover, plastic filler plate, headlight assembly and headlights. course my bro didnt want to do any work or pay anything so he had me "fix" it with lots of bondo and a hammer. now that the camaro is my dads we're planning on replacing all the bad parts. heres 2 pics but even the first one is after "fixing" the bumper cover and the headlights.

ive been in 5 in my TA.... none my fault, first one got rear ended while sitting at a stop light, 2nd rearended on the freeway, third guy ran a stop sign hit driver side rear quarter pannel swung my car around and i took out a sign, fourth, i was going strait through a light and someone tried to turn left comin from the other side. and most recently someone hit me while my car was in the parking lot, still havent found out who did it, or had the money to get it fixed. my cars a moving target

I was in my 91 z28, going to work one afternoon. There is a place where two lanes merge and some jacka$$ couldn't get in so I was nice and I slowed down to let him go. So he goes and im about to get up to speed again (never stopped, just slowed down a bit) and some beat up blue minivan slams into my rear. We pull over and I get out to check the damage and the bumper alignment is a little off and there are scuffs on the back bumper but nothing that would cost too much. Then this spanish/mexican lady has the nerve to start btchin at me like it was my fault. I lost it. She ends up putting her piece of sh*t van back in gear and taking off before the cops get called or anything. So I got her plate as she was speeding away. But guess what?...when my buddy (cop in town) scanned her plates, they didn't match up, what luck! Wouldn't be suprised if she was another border jumper who doesn't have the right to be in this country in the first place. I hate to seem racist but I really got the shaft with this one.

My first accident was shortly after I got my permit in my 89 RS. I was taking my girlfriend to her cousins house about 20 mins. away. She lived on state rd. 1 between angola and hamilton here in indiana. Well I was being dumb and my girlfriend always harped on me about my car so I was showing off. This was at 11 at night and I thought I knew the road better than I did. First off on this road i was on there is a set of s curves that say to slow down to 25MPH for and My rs could take them at 70MPH easy(in my iroc i come of the last curve at over 100MPH now, but that's a different story) Then about a mile past that there is a stop sign and about a 1/4 mile hilly stretch. And a sign right after that saying to take curve at 15MPH. Well I figure this should be no problem since I can take the other ones so fast so I gun it. I came over the last hill at around 70MPH and my lights hit the curve. It was almost a 90 degree curve. Needless to say I knew that my car wasn't gonna make it so I slammed on the brakes cranked the wheel to the right to take the curve and kicked it sideways and went off the 6FT embankment and into the ditch. Know here is a funny part. My girlfriend knew that I always drive with my right hand on the shifter so she reached down to grab my hand. Luckily for me my hand wasn't there because she ripped the stock shifter *** right off, and i'm sure most of you no how hard that is to do with a screw driver let alone your bare hands. We all walked away but my rs wasn't so lucky. It popped the left front tire off of the bead, ripped the drivers side ground effects mid door up, and put a huge dent where the rs emblem would have been on the left front fender. After that my friend who I asked to come with us cause I had one of those bad feeling before we left I told him I didn't care how but to get the car out of the ditch. He tried valiently but to no avail but that little 305 hit 7000RPMS a couple of times and she was still running like a champ 2 years later after the accident when I sold it. To add insult to injury my girlfriends cousins boyfriend had to pull me out in his ford f250. Then of course I had to go to moms work and tell her and since I wasn't suppose to be out in the first place. Needless to say I was lucky I even got to keep the car. Believe me it was touch and go for a couple of weeks. Personally i'm glad I learned all my lessons in the rs before I got my beloved Iroc. Now blowing up motors and trans is another story. Done that a few times in the iroc. Now I've been involved in a few other accidents since then but I think this one was long enough. Well thats my story hope you all enjoyed it. I know I did. Or atleast I do now looking back on it.

My only accident that had me in the car should have never happen. I was going down this long road that speed limit is 35 but pointless cause no one does it cause it changes in the middle of nowhere over and over again. The girl in front of me that I didn't realize at the time has a rep for riding people’s asses. I was going about 60 and then the guy in front of her just slams on there brakes and comes to a full stop (there was not where to turn the road has nothing on it. she was ready for it cause she has to all the time and doesn't hit him and I am a car and a half length back and hit my brakes and they lock and my car slides right in to that dam ford focus. Then the guy in front of her floors it and drives off. The damage was nothing her worst thing was three pin stripes on her rear bumper and that is $3 for a touch up kit. I had my hold front bumper scratched and the nose emblem broken and the hood now off aligned. She calls the cops and I had to wait 2 hour for the pig to get there. This cop could have cared less and I got a nice ticket and she got sympathy. another was the 1st day I drove my car to school a girl back out and hit the back bumper after school and takes off, too bad I was in the parking lot at my friends car, stupid thing to do she couldn't drive to school for the year for it cause it was a hit and run.

RS Reaper, not sure why your blaming the girl, or calling the cop a pig. When you rear end someone it is your fault end of story. The cop can say, you should know your cars brakes are not up to snuff and you should leave enough room if indeed you have to stop. Calling a cop a pig for ticketing you when you rightfully deserved it? Not sure I would make that a habit.

85irocz355tpi: 7000 RPM? Not too keen on the computers in these cars, but I have a feeling they have a rev limiter somewhere before 7000 RPM. Especially a car not notorious for revving very high. I'm sure you learned your lesson though, and got lucky, doing that is one thing, doing it with a passenger is a whole nother thing.

You're very right about being dumb with a passenger in the car and how lucky I and my passenger's were. But that was part of my point about being dumb when I was 16. As for the rev limiter GM didn't install a rev limiter on the tbi cars in 89 and with no traction the tbi 305 can hit 7 grand. It wasn't last time that little 305 hit that either. I did it once on accident. I was going 110MPH up a slight hill and the trans decided it wasn't pulling hard enough in drive so it downshifted to second. My rs topped out in second gear at 75-80MPH so you do the math. I thought I dropped the trans but I let off of the gas and it shifted into overdrive and after the hill I punched it again and shifted fine. Then when I sold it to my friend it only 1st and 2nd gear and he had been driving it like that to school for awhile and lost 2nd on his way to school and held it to the floor in first gear for 2 miles. It made him made and was looking for an excuse to drop a 350 in it so he didn't care. But that little 305 still started right up held 60 LBS of oil pressure. No knock no nothing. I know most won't believe this but I purchased this car with 259,000 miles on this and when I sold it it had 281,000 miles on it. That motor may have been gutless but it wouldn't blow. We tried almost everything short of spraying it with nitrous at idle. Oh and it's still running today.

well heres my first wreck and a hint at my bad luck. i was driving home in my 91 s10 blazer at abot 7pm at night in jan of 07. well it hadnt snowed for a wile and so i thot that this bak road would be clear of any snow. well im traveling down this goin abot 45 and guess wat my luk is its bambi and its dad standing in the road but im guessing i hav time to stop, but heres more luk this stretch of road still had ice on it so wen i started to hit the brakes i noticed i wasnt slowing and stupid little bambi was still in the road so i thot that mabe i could take the ditch since the farmer that owned the field had taken the fence down. so here i go into the ditch goin 45 on two wheels since i had hit a dry patch and caught lots of traction and more luk poped up the farmer couldn't get a 10ft tall railroad ty out of the ground and so i it it. well i pull the ty out of the frozen ground the painful way. after i hit the ty im sortof in shock and instincs take over, and needless to say i went in that ditch goin 45 but came out doin 35. so as i calm down and im bak on the road i decide to go to the farmers house. well he was a nice guy and laugh for a while and offered to let me keep the vehicle ther so i do. well he gives me a ride home and i start makin plans to get the vehicle home wen my luk shows again. aparantly a cop noticed the skid marks on the road and the uprotted ty and decides to drive the road in search for any evidence of wat happened and guess wat he sees. hint my vehicle in the farmers yard and decides to talk to him and so the farmer told him wat i said and then i get a letter from the sherifs department stating that my license is being taken away. and so wat have i learned from this ordeal is--next time i see bambi hes going to DIE!!!!!!!!!!

In 1980 I was driving with a friend comming home at 1100. With only 6 months driving I was chasing some girls and not thinking about looking for oncoming traffic. I got 178 stiches and my friend ended up with 80. The car was totaled. I missed a week from school. I have had several, but the scariest was in 1988 in scottland. I was in the AF and jackknifed in a 18 wheeler. We were in the mountains and I was sure we were going over the edge. Entire truck hit black ice and got sideways on a mountain.

my first one was about half a year ago. i has bought my firebird about 18 hours before and me and my bud in front of me were headed to a car show with our club. well i look down and back up and see brake lights now i was going the speed limit and what happend is some retard in a ford f-150 decides to floor it out of an apartment complex and try to go across two lanes and into a turn lane. well he relizes that there is a car there he slams on the brakes well my bud and the two car slam on there brakes to keep from t boning him. so i slam on the brakes and from what we put together the passenger front wheel is the one that decided to work the others..... wanted to be lazy. so i am one wheel sliding with the brake pedal all the way to the floor. yeah thats not suppesed to happen. and i end up putting my nose under my friends bumper and popping his backend up he somes out with 150 i damage me. i get two new fenders, bumper cover, hood, and driver side headlight ***. ill post a pic it look horrable. so now my nick name at the dealership is crash (yay). so i pull my car into the by and lift it and take off my rear drums and guess what the shoes werent adjusted right they wouldnt even come in contact with the drum. that bad part was breaking it to the parents that i didnt tell i was buying it.

Man that sucks. But it could have been worse. If you wouldn't have went under his car it would have taken out the core support and the front bumper mounts. That would have been worse cause you'd still have to replace the front bumper both fenders and the hood. Plus both headlights. But sucks nonetheless.

My first accident was about a year after I started driving. I had to drive my mom's 1985 Renalt Encore. Man what a dog that thing was. I doubt it even had 100hp. Anyways it was March and the roads were icy. I was driving to my friend's house. You had to take an alley to get to his place and they never kept it cleaned off. I was driving down the alley and slid off the road and crashed head on into a tree. After I crashed I reached up to shut the car off and I couldn't feel any key. All of a sudden my knee started hurting and I looked down on the floor and the keys were laying there. I picked them up and the only thing left of the ignition key was the head. My knee hit it so hard that it broke off and the rest of it was still in the ignition. The car ended up being totaled.

My second car. Was crossing a main rd. Real bad spot since the main rd curves and then goes up a hill. When you look to the right, you can only a short distance down the road due to the curve and the building on the corner. Big trucks tend to come flying down the road to maintain speed up the hill. Speed limit is 35.
Well I stopped, looked right, no traffic looked left was going to go and there was a car coming. That's about all I remember. My guess is that I waited till the car from the left passed and then went across without double checking back to the right.
Got slammed by a tri axle dump truck hauling a load of busted concrete. Supposedly I did over $9,000 in damages to the truck, which is BS. The just pulled all the $$$ they could out of my insurance company. Since it was my fault and the cops said he was doing the speed limit not much I could do. Young dumb kid learns a lesson the hard way.

Yeah They finally decided my accident was the last straw, since an acident would occur there once every few months. Put a 4 way stoplight in there a few months later.

Nope, there isn't. I don't think any of the 3rd gens have a rev limiter, actually. I hit 7k more than a few times with my 225k RS. I didn't exactly keep it pegged there, but there were some wild burnouts or donuts that hit 7k and came back down after I noticed. It ran like a top when I sold it, by the way.

There's pages and pages of discussion about the high RPM potential of a 305 on here, and it's not the ideal motor for it, but it can be done safely with the right internals, like any other SBC.

I was driving my 86 cj-7 ... restored and lifted ! wtih a '71 AMC 360. :'(. anyway... i was with my g/f at the time and we were wasting time drving down a windy road that i had never been on before in the rain... nice set up for a crash right? lol. well i came around a corner way to fast ... i tapped my brakes and the off road tires lcked up. i knew right away i was scewed. we were sliding 50 mph into a low concrete bridge. we hit and rolled up over. I hit at an angle making contact with my front left tire. my g/f flew across me cus she was not restrained ... thank god i caught her before her head hit my window. and the only damage i sustaied was a broken nose cus her elbow hit me lol.. my jeep didnt look that bad. but i knew the frame was twisted when i couldnt close my door. needless to say i sold it cus i only had liability.... and know i have my camaro!

My first accident was in my first car, a 1984 camaro berlinetta. I was driving during rush hour on a really hot sunny day with the stereo cranked and the t-tops off going to pick up my gf from school. I was doing about 55mph in a 40 zone and I was jsut about to go through an intersection that had stop signs on the other through traffic. Some guy with a huge brand new cargo trailer decided to pull out in front of me and stop, I slammed on the brakes and slid for about 100 feet (I couldnt drive worth **** at the time so i just locked my brakes the whole way) I slammed into him probably doing 25mph and through both of his axles out the other side of his cargo trailer (the thing was huge) I was wearing a seatbelt and my heads got wedged inbetween the window and dash. I pulled over and the guy siad it was my fualt I siad F*ck you and he gave me $1500 (His wife was a lawyer). The same day i was driving and my hood flew off cracked my front windsheild.. Then i went to the gas station and my gf locked the keys in the car so i had to smash out the passenger side widnow cuz i got really PO'd. Next day I buaght an 82Z28 with a 010 350 now I'm on my 5th third gen without any accidents since.

Ill be the first one(Ithink) to be the dumb sht and say that my first wreck happend in my 96 ta. I was getting on the freeway when it was raining (Always raining on oregon)I had just bought the car, got a great deal on it.so I throttle up the on-ramp. my car keeps shifting gears. I steadly ease into full throttle. Im going about 40mph. my rear tire were going 110mph.Gets sideways. I coudnt correct fast enough and I made the choice on my final corection to bring the car around so It would get ditched instead of hitting 70mph traffic sideways. It was kinda fun trying to get the car out of the muddy mess I made on the side of the road I slid along a bush/cyclone fenceline for 30ft, backwards. The accedent scratched up the drivers side of the car, put a dent in my drivers fender the size of a basketball. And bruized my ego

my first accident was in a 86 Ta i was with my friend riving in the rain (which happens not very often here in las vegas nevada ) he was telling me listen to that motor he jsut put in ( was a 350 i know not right one but he put it in TPI supercharged open exhaust slamed to the ground like 3 inch drop on it with airbags ) he wasnt looking he was doing 70 in a 50 zone when a lifted toyota pickup truck pulled in front was doing i guessed 20 at the time well we hit his rear axle and we made him lift into the air aobut 7 ft above us i rember looking through the busted t top at the bottom of the truck as we drove under him and he was in the air well we smacked into a light pole i was told he landed and it was like a cartoon the tire with axles still connected went difrent direction from the truck left front went left and foward read went left and up right front went out and strait right rear went backwards there was parts of his truck every where all my friends car got was the whole front damged from radiator forward was messed up broke windshield and blow out t tops the motor was still running i been in accidents after that but for what i was in it shows the wedge desing of firebirds help out it seemd to me

my first accident was in a nash rambler - it was in 1963, i was driving at night and i made a left turn in the rain and the car just started to slide sideways and i only going about 10 mph. no one was around so i left a note on the car with my name and phone number. not much in the way of damage - i paid the guy 15.00 and that was it.
i learned a valuable lesson, when its raining or snowing - dont change speed or tire direction at the same time. you can do one but not both.
not very impressive except that i actually stopped and left a note as the law requires. it was about 11:00 pm and not a soul around, but i left the note anyway.

Well my first accident that wasnt a minor scratch on my old sherman(86 volvo, it was a tank) was on my first bike. I bought a 1980's kawasaki 454 cruiser, and spent all winter fixing it. drove it around alittle then i finally decieded to swing up to the DMV and get it registered, im on my way when i hit a residential interesection, i dont have a stop sign but still slow before going through, and a girl in a huge black SUV flys through her stop sign, and nails the back of my bike. i hit the ground and skid and end up in someones yard. im going in and out of conciousness when i hear her walk up, she says to her friend, "i think i killed him" and her friend said "we should go you cant go to jail if they dont catch you". id also like to mention thats about what i think they said alot was said between them before they left but i can only really remember that. well i passed out completely and the lady who owned the house i landed in called the cops saying a drunk was in her yard passed out(evidently she didnt hear the bang of the wreck of see my bike in the street). well around an hour after she called the cop showed up, i remember hearing police sirens, and then i remember riding in the ambulance. the bike was obviously totaled, all my brand new riding gear was either torn apart or smashed, but i really didnt get too hurt. minor head trauma(concussion) a couple stitches, and screwed up my shoulder bad and it still kinda bothers me here and there. anyways i remember my parents walking in and i just started clicking the morphine drip like i was going to die. also to add they never found the girl, and though id never hit a girl, i might throw here under a car to return the favor if i find her.

And about 2 weeks after i get out of the hospital, a girl going 45-50 in a parking lot did this to my newly had **** wagon.


that grayish stuff inthe middle is the motor, the radiator was about 10 feet to the right, it ripped the rear and middle bench seats out of the floor, i was at a complete stop and she nailed me.(you can see how she backed up out from under the hood of my car in the radiator fluid right under the front of the car(there is a line from her tires backing up) anyways i failed a class thanks to that bitch as i had missed a ton of class, and had to take a final or id fail, my professor said hell or high water i miss i fail, needless to say this happened as i was going to park to take the test.

This happened about 20 years ago. I was heading to work, doing about 45 or so and a full size chevy pickup pulled out of a liquor store. I hit him at the driver's side door. I slammed on the brakes but still hit him and I lifted the truck and spun him around. Truck made it all the way up to the strut tower. Was very pissed and was ready to kill the guy but he was in the passenger side hurt. So I helped him and waited for the police and ambulance to show up.

Had a pretty freaky near miss, coming home from work (airport in the country) so I'm doing about 90km/h down the range road (limit was 80) and some crazy woman ran a stop sign at a blind corner doing probably 100. I saw her at the last second and swerved, I swear if I didn't she woulda nailed me, went halfway into the ditch, overcorrected, did a 180 and ended up halfway in the ditch on the other side. I was incredibly shaken up, car was full of weeds (windows down) and one of the tires was scuffed up badly from the rough edge of the asphalt. Of course I wasn't thinking straight, only got her name and insurance ##, no vehicle model, license plate, driver's license... insurance company told me they wouldn't make a claim without. So I'm stuck with a bad tire. Coulda been a lot worse tho...
