Sounds like the car is doing fine in the traction department. The car does seem to be down in power for the setup you are describing. I dyno and log a wideband on the car and see what the fuel curve looks like

Looks good, nice set up. What year is the car? Oh and you can not say you went 14 flat yet, you still have over 7 hundreds left. I drag raced some and in the beginning I went 99.97 MPH. The guy's I raced with said "can't say you did a 100 in the 1/4 YET. Missed it by that much!DARN! LOL

i was hoping to get a better 60ft, with the 3.73s and he 3200 stall i was hoping to see some 1.7xxx

i'm assuming the heads and the tpi system is whats causing the car to go so slow at the end, no top end power.

I do have a LT1 manifold at home that i'm modifying to fit my heads and i got a great deal on some Performance RPM heads for 750 from my big brother.
what should i run then?

The LT1 manifold modified would work pretty nice. Without knowing air flow numbers and port velocity, I can't say anything about the heads. I would suggest some tuning on the car and optimizing your current setup before you go switching it up.

94.9 mph for 14.07 is good time for mph. 1335 if u do the math.

Anybody that can tune EFI Live, LS1 Edit, or LT1 Edit should be more than capable of tuning your car as the principles are the same but the factory ECM does not have the ability to flash your ecm live like the newer ECMs. The only difference is the burning of the chips. I've been out of the eprom burning for several years so i'm not sure if Craig Moates has come up with anything that will allow you to plug up the laptop directly to the e-prom to flash it.

I don't buy that. My borther in laws Acura TL run 16.0@88 mph (thats 5000 DA BTW) MPH does not equal an exact trap speed

Firend TA did 15.5@88 mph...explain that.

perhaps you missed the 5000DA altitude part

That about 1 sec slower then sea-level.

As for hooking up---well the Acura will not do any kind of powerbrake. (computer freaks out) It does not spin either.

The Cobalt will allow a small powerbrake but doesn't spin either.

Re: i went 14flat, is this good for my setup??

1/10th in the 60' is worth quite a bit by the end of the run.

RWD also gets out of the whole better than FWD.

2.4 seems kind of slow. When I had a peanut cammed TBI 350 long block in my 89 GTA (don't ask, its embarassing) The best I could get it do go was 15.3 @ 87mph, 60' was in the 2.0x range constantly the car just didn't have anything else in it.

But hey, take heart its better than my 93 Escort could muster, that only had 88hp! 60' was like 3.1 seconds or something slow like that, no spin either, just a lack of power.

I think those numbers are not bad. What cam exactly are you running? Is it the comp cam xr258hr12. That cam is 206int 212exh @.050 and lift is 0.80int and 0.88ex with 112 lsa.
You most certainly would need a computer tune, especially after the cam upgrade. Without the tune you are probably running at about 80% of what your combo can do. I am in a similar situation and am trying to get into the data logging and chip burning stuff myself. I have not heard the best of results with any of the mail order custom chips out there.
Good run.

Re: i went 14flat, is this good for my setup??

So you probably have the comp cam xr264hr12. It is a good cam for a TPI. You just need to get the computer tune dialed in. You may want to find somebody that has a dyno and perhaps do a couple of dyno pulls where air fuel ratios can be measured throughout the power band. Send that data to the people doing the chip burning. It may help them with the tune. I know that there is a company in Tennessee that does that sort of thing. You basically send them the dyno data with AF ratio curve, and they burn the chip for you. Unfortunately you have to repeat the process a few times before things are setup pretty good. They charge about $350 for the initial burn, and then $50 for every subsequent burn. The guy that I was working with that runs the dyno, used to charge about $40 per dyno pull.

That about 1 sec slower then sea-level.

As for hooking up---well the Acura will not do any kind of powerbrake. (computer freaks out) It does not spin either.

The Cobalt will allow a small powerbrake but doesn't spin either.
It doesn't matter what the density of the air is, 88 MPH is good for 15.0 flat. And the Acura is FWD, so it will be at a disadvantage when trying to hook. They should theoretically both run the same ET if they have the same trap speed, but gearing will come into play in the real world.

theres nothing to hook up man---no traction issues and you cannot load up the stall at all. Computer FREAKS

I go the track all the time----never see cars that ET 15.0 doing 88 mph.

I did 14.9@91 in my 86 Mustang WITH a 2.1 60ft.

The Acura runs 16.0@ 88mph end of story. No bottom end--hence the 2.5 60ft. Top end is good-thats how it traps 88--its pulling decent at high rpms.
