89 Camaro RS vs 96 Mustang?
I'm looking to race my friends Mustang and he says he will whoop my *** by as least 5 car lengths in a 1/4 mile race.
Hes got a 1996 Mustang (V6 3.8 5speed)
I got a 1989 Camaro RS (305 V8)

Re: 89 Camaro RS vs 96 Mustang?
well, the 305tbi is not anything to brag about, but neither is ford 3.8.
Im not sure who would win, but it would be close if anything, no 5 lengths on either side. Unless one of you cant drive.

Re: 89 Camaro RS vs 96 Mustang?
Stock on stock you should beat him. I knew a girl who had a 3.8 5 speed stang which ran 10.01 in the 1/8th and it was modified, (tune, gears, not sure what else, exhaust I think) my 88 305 tune port runs 9.70's(best time was 9.54 after iceing the intake for about 15 min)

Re: 89 Camaro RS vs 96 Mustang?
More hp and ALOT more torque, plus about the same weight give or take a hundred pounds maybe. You should have the win.... My caprice kept up with a 5 spd 3.8 stang before on the street and that car is Terrible on acceleration. It only started catching when the speeds were over 40...

You racing a 17 possibly 16 second car, you shouldn't have to worry about losing.

Best bang for your buck would be a full complete tune up, then the ultimate TBI mods and an open element air filter.

Re: 89 Camaro RS vs 96 Mustang?
my 350 TPI went up equal to a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6 with 4:10 gears
so you should easily win unless he has something like turbo you dont know about.

Dude how was that even helpful for this thread?
He's got a 305 TBI and he's racing a V6 mustang....It's like comparing apples to oranges to your 350 TPI and a V8 Mustang race.......people are lame.

Re: 89 Camaro RS vs 96 Mustang?
SEARCH! There are TONS of posts asking this question. Try out the TBI board, since that is what is probably powering your Camaro...
