Stock on stock you should beat him. I knew a girl who had a 3.8 5 speed stang which ran 10.01 in the 1/8th and it was modified, (tune, gears, not sure what else, exhaust I think) my 88 305 tune port runs 9.70's(best time was 9.54 after iceing the intake for about 15 min)
More hp and ALOT more torque, plus about the same weight give or take a hundred pounds maybe. You should have the win.... My caprice kept up with a 5 spd 3.8 stang before on the street and that car is Terrible on acceleration. It only started catching when the speeds were over 40...

my 350 TPI went up equal to a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6 with 4:10 gears
so you should easily win unless he has something like turbo you dont know about.
Dude how was that even helpful for this thread?
He's got a 305 TBI and he's racing a V6 mustang....It's like comparing apples to oranges to your 350 TPI and a V8 Mustang race.......people are lame.
I'm looking to race my friends Mustang and he says he will whoop my *** by as least 5 car lengths in a 1/4 mile race.
Hes got a 1996 Mustang (V6 3.8 5speed)
I got a 1989 Camaro RS (305 V8)
Who will win and by how much?
you will win..i had a 92 rs 305 tbi and my friend had a 03 mustang v6..we raced like 5 times on a closed road n i beat him by a car or two everytime.. he still thinks his car is fast cuz i wrecked my rs... but kno i got an Iroc-z n now he cant even keep up :P
I had a 95 stang with the 3.8 and 5 speed and I had my 89 camaro rs tbi auto at the same time. I never got to race them together but id say the mustang pulled real good in third gear, so if u get a good start you should still be able to hold him off. All other gears in the stang where crap.
my 89 rs got faster when i took out everything behind the front seats, not saying you have to go that far but taking out the pannels under the hatch and carpet will give you a little upper hand if your feelin doubts but you should win
well man, it all depends on the driver. seeing how both cars are matched almost identical. if both of you have automatic, then its whoever can hit the gas first (usually) however, if you both got a stick, its who can shift faster, and more efficiently to get the "boost" of a "perfect shift" to outrun the other. if one has manual, and one has auto, then you hope he misses a gear, or you don't, depending on who has what. good luck, show 'em what a Camaro really is.
