a 96 mustang V6 in all of its 150hp glory are slower than civics of similar years.
Even with a 5 speed they do 0-60 in about 9 seconds and run 17s
You probably have a shitty 2.73 rear end so I would would not be surprised if he starts to pull a little after you shift into second. I would say you will do 0-60 in about 7.5 and run a 1/4 in 16.0-16.5
