Which fast domestic would you roll in?...
1. Which muscle car would you rather be driving?
>The Chevrolet Corvette
>The Ford GT40
>The Dodge Viper
...btw don't yas love how the gt40 is new, but it looks as muscular as a 50's car, crazy, hope the new camaro looks like it... well of course better looking.
2. Which "sport compact" car would you rather be driving?
>Charged Chevrolet Cavalier
>Charged Ford Focus
>Charged Dodge Neon
...charged of course I mean super/turbocharged, since these cars will soon be equipped with them to rip up rice... woops I said the R word... who cares.

Viper! IMHO one of the most beautiful cars ever made and one of the best all-round performers stock.
Saw the new GT40 in Detroit, very nice car too.

Low 12 1/4mi straight from the factory, Pulls 1.0 G for handling
What else? Viper of course

The viper may be slightly faster in the 1/4, but it's not engineered nearly as well as the 'vette... do you ever see a Viper as the weapon of choice on road courses? No! They're rulled by the Saleen S7's and the Z06 'vettes. The Corvette is the best overall hands down! It's hard to compete with 49 years of lineage.
I don't know much of the new GT40, only that the originals kicked a lot of ***... hopefully they'll get it right again the second time around. It's not gonna be the same though without being 40" tall.

Vipers are faster in the 1/4, but Z06's do handle better. Its a close choice, but i have one question, why is there a cavalier, a neon, and a focus in the pole? Who would pick them?( sorry if anyone really would pick one ) over a viper, vette, or GT40????

There should have been 2 polls, one for the fast cars, one for the rice beaters. Corvette (Z06) for the fast cars, though once the new Viper comes out, it might be a change of heart. I think that the Viper is the purer sports car, but too much of a PITA to drive normally (your legs are canted over to the side so your body can't actually face forward).
As for the rice beaters probably either an SVT Focus or that Turbo Neon at the car show. I'd need to drive them first to pick a winner.

AHHH That's a hard one. The new GT40 concept is KILLER.... but I for one wouldn't mind a brand new 405hp LS6 powered Z06 in 'electron blue' with loudmouth exhaust and blackwing intake.... mmmmmmm... I can hear it now, the ricers at skool going vroom vrooom kshhh(turbo) and me in an all-american-bad@$$ going VR000M VR00000000M: And EVERYONE around stops looking at the ***** and starts lookin at me... Mind you I'd still keep the stock exhaust in my house, cause it's a titanium work of art =)
All I have to say is: :hail: chevy smallblock sound rules... i love you guys

I'll take the phenomenal Z06 thankyou very much, an '02. Nothing competes for the price. Few bolt ons and you're around 370 RWhp in a 3100 pound Vette.
Yummmm. Just barely behind the Viper in the 1/4 yet wayyy better all around...

first off, who the hell on this board keeps there cars stocka nywayz? so I don't really car about stock times. I would probably roll in the viper or vette. but I garantie you that if I had enough to get one they wouldn"t be anything close to stock anywayz So i don"t really care bout the stock times Man those this post even make sense? i hope so :_)

hmm you guys are all talking about the viper being quicker than the z06 as i'm sure it's true however on another message board I saw some timeslips for a stock 02' Z06 6 speed and they were in the high 11's on stock tires. They even had a run posted with drag radials and the times were pretty much identical within .01 of eachother. I dunno about you but I think high 11's is good enough for me from the factory If it's at all true.

That first one was tough, I love the Corvette, but the Viper is a bit rarer and you get more looks with that, not too mention it's power. The GT40 doesn't look bad, but I don't know any specs on it.

Hands down Viper. I've loved that car even since I first set my eyes on them. Hopefully I'll own one someday.... Don't really care for the new body style too much though.

Viper vs. Z06 could go both ways, depending on what year, and the driver. Last friday night there was a 2002 Z06 that raced a newer viper, neither of them got a burn out done, so off the start there was so much smoke. The vette ended up winning, but it could have gone either way. Also there was a viper gts at the track last weekend, it ran a 13.1! So it really depends on the driver.

GT40..
sorry.. but i hate vipers.. they're wonders and all.. but.. had bad experiances with them .. mostly their drivers.. think they own the *** damn road.. (well... they do.. still no excuse to cut you off, do burn outs at lights in front of you, causing rubber to go on your car.. they be *******s)
and the corvette.. is.. everywhere.. damn nice.. but.. i like seeing something different.. and me in a gt40 would be different.

I would take the Corvette, because it is so much more ergonomic than the other cars. I didn't like the Viper's interior too much, not as comfortable as the Corvette's. I sat in both interior's before, both at dealerships, hehe.

cac91 couldn't have put it any better. I guarantee a GT40 will be a lot harder to come by than any of the others which is reason enough to choose it.

Voted for the Z06. If I had to choose a subcompact ,I wouldn't choose any of those listed if money was no object, even though I have a Z24, I would choose the Celica GTS since it is lighter more powerful and has better seats. The Pontiac Solstice will trump that though if they build it.
And even though I chose the vette of the choices available, reality is if I spent that much for a car I could get a totally restored classic cheaper. 67'Vette,70 Hemi Cuda, or something along those lines.

Personally, I like Mazda's track record... If I were to buy an econobox I'd have to pick the new Mazda Protege Hatchback. It's front fascia is nicely done and it's got enough base power for a start.
