Place for the cheapest starter?
G'day gents,
Where do I go to get the best deal on a starter in Ottawa? Seems mine bit the dust during storage.....budget's tight, so lookin' for the best way to make a dollar stretch. Any ideas?
Thanx,
FH

Cheaping out on parts like this may seem prudent, but after you've replaced it once a year for the next 5, it won't seem so cheap. Crappy tire also sells "premium" Bosch rebuilt units now, usually at about 50-75% more than the "cheap" one they carry- probably money well spent.

Yeah, I think I'll give the rebuild a shot...worst case I have to replace the damn thing anyway, so why not.

I think it's the solenoid; no 'click' when I turn the key and and headlights remain strong (not the battery). There's a procedure for testing the starter in the car w/ a jumper from "batt" to "S", but I have to get the battery charged first - it dies within a day of full charge (again, point to solenoid short).

Just hit a wrecking yard that's all I do. $10 and your rolling again. i've been running this one for 3 years now. Currently I'm close to 11.0:1 and it still cranks it over.
