Ok I'm just going to start throwing ideas out there and if these sound good maybe we should start another thread.
How about a cruise from Gary IN to Michigan City IN on US12/E Dunes Hwy through the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. We could stay on 12 or jog over on lake front drive for part of it. Depending on actual starting and ending points it would be about a 45 min cruise. Ive never been on US12 through that area, I'm not even sure if it's scenic. I'm just looking for somewhere on the south side of chicago to gather.

That sounds good Jeremy - except for the Gary part. .
The Illinois Camaro Club, used to have an annual cruise to the Volo car museum. It was pretty cool. We'd all get together and then go through the museum. That's closer to the Wisconsin/Illinois border, so it may be a hike for our Indiana members, but easier for those from Wisconsin.

Looks like the quality of cars has really leaped since I was there a few years ago. Looks like I will really have to step up the work on my project to keep pace. Hoping it won't be too long before I return

Re: ThirdGen 2012 Pix...
LOL I'm aware that no one wants to start in Gary, I don't either, it was just a point of reference. I'd strongly suggest we start east of town a few miles.
I also was looking for places south and east of town because it's not that much different than going to ThirdgenFest. If people are willing to make that drive I'd think they could make the drive to the east side of Gary. Sounds like it could be scenic and a good time. If this is workable I'll start a new thread about it and see where it goes....

The kid in the red shorts is my son. He fell in love with 92RS's blue IROC. Everything about it, from the color, to the wheels, to the C4 brakes and GMMG exhaust.

He hasn't stopped talking about Sean's IROC since Saturday. He's out of his Cobalt SS, Jaguar S Type R, etc., phase. He now wants a blue IROC with a stick. It'll take him a while at $8.50 an hour though.......

Sounds like me before I got my GTA, all I wanted was a blue IROC-Z with a 5 speed. Which Seans car was very nice and looked awesome in person. The wheels look very nice on it.

Re: ThirdGen 2012 Pix...
Thanks for the compliments guys. When I first bought my Iroc when i was 18 I was making about the same money as him I saved every penny I could to buy my car. That's one of the reasons it means so much to me I worked my *** off to afford it. The insurance was the worst it was almost 200 bucks a month just for it, and I had a perfect driving record.

Re: ThirdGen 2012 Pix...
Awesome cars guys, had a great time. For my first time i wish it couldve gone better.. I got there at like 230 and by then i think all the little cliques were made. Didnt really talk to anyone and i thought a ton of people would check out my car and i was all excited because we recently did so much work to it. I saw like 2 people look at it and i dont know it was just kinda upsetting because ive been looking forward to thirdgen fest for 2 years.. Not trying to sound like a cry baby but oh well. I thought for sure going from a complete motor swap and body work paint and just a full restore would have people everywhere but oh well. Its all good.

i looked over every car at the show, i do every year in case i need more ideas on how others do something that I can implement on my camaro. Don't worry at world of wheels tens of thousands of people walked past my "turdgen" and looked at the first gens and ricers, etc. Just how it goes.

Re: ThirdGen 2012 Pix...
I gotta say, there was some really pristine Thirdgens there again. Personally, at least this year, I thought the 'birds made a great showing...I didn't expect that. Really nice TA's and GTA's there!
If I have one complaint - and it's a minor one, I think the person that owns his/her car should have the choice of which catagory he/she will compete in (within reason of course)...
Case in point, I couldn't believe when Dennis announced my car as winning
2nd place in the "Project" catagory.
Of course, that comes with no trophy or anything...problem is, my car was stickered as "Modified" when I pulled up. It's not Dennis's fault, people seen that my interior needs a lot of work - it's my next project. So the people voted accordingly I guess. lol
Not to mention, I can't possibly compete with the likes of a pristine Camaro that arrived in an enclosed trailer that was an all out show-stopper in the modified class!! I drove there...
That being said, I NEVER expect to really "win" anything when I go, I really just dig walking around and meeting like-minded Thirdgen owners and get ideas for future stuff as you guys are saying. It was a great time and I was glad to meet everyone.

88TransAmGuy-
You have done a great job!! Very nice resto!!
When we go to shows // cruise-ins, we like to look at as much as we can for the same reasons stated earlier-- ideas, talk to owners for resources, and events attending in the future.
Did you bring an album with pics of what you started with?
My Bride started 1 for our Camaro... Geez we have a lonnng way to go to be able to park with you guys!! We'll get there.........I HOPE!! LOL!!!
Ours would fit the catagory of
" Project on the shelf for another year "..
MAYBE xpndbl3 will get his off the trailer before ours is done..??..

Ok so with that being said, and considering that this event is open to everyone, who went the farthest distance to get there?
I'd love to go and check out all the third gens and hang out with other third gen enthusiasts but I got quite a way to go before my baby is running!
