Code 34 and car jerks
I have an 88 T/A with a 305 tpi. I have been getting a code 34 and the car jerks (for lack of a better description) at lower speeds. (around 30-45). I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc. Also replaced MAF sensor and relay. The latter seemed to take car of the code, but I still have the low speed jerk. The car only has 75,000 miles on it. Any ideas?

well most cars will jerk if you put them in a power range that barely has enough umpf to move the car...
I hope thats not what you're doing.....
aside from that it could be timing/fuel
Do you have a scanner? Or can you get ahold of one?

It jerks at low speeds, but the rpms are definitely high enough to keep the car from being totally bogged down. What should the timing be set at? The label under the hood says 6*. I checked it, and that is where it is set. I checked the fuel pressure too. When you first turn the key on, the pressure jumps right to 45lbs, but drops right back to 40lbs. I've been told that anything under 40 1/2 is too low. The 34 popped back up today too. I can probably come up with a scanner. I will have to ask around.

I have an 88 T/A w/ the same engine. I had the same problem. It turned out to be the throttle positioning sensor. Might want to check it out.

My TPS was completely buggered and had to be replaced. I'm not sure of the code number since I didn't scan it. I would just do a simple voltage test to see what kind of juice it's getting. Hope this helps you out.
