Are World Product heads really that bad?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to build up my 350 motor, but first I wanted to dig into the heads. They are World Products S/Rs. I'm not sure if they have 2.02/1.60s but if not I want to add those, and the lt4 springs, locks, and seats. I also wanted to maybe mill them, do some porting and clean them up. I know alot of people think I should just sell them and save the money and put them into new heads, but I already have the heads and springs and figured I could work with them. Anyways, can I expect to make some power with these heads or is it a lost cause? Any help is appreciated.

Ya they are pretty bad. I'd sell them and save for AFR's, but that's just my 2 cents .

Give em a lil credit. They do flow better than the stock units. and there is more meat to port if I am not mistaken. Still not worth it though imo. A-F-R, A-F-R If you can't afford AFR's maybe some aluminum L98's? Or perhaps Trick Flows?

Look into the Dart Iron Eagles. When comparing the exhaust ports there is a noticable difference. They aren't all that much more money and they flow alot more.

Whichever heads you buy make sure you do your research first. A cylinder head that flows a lot at say .700 lift is not as good as a head that flows teh same at .500. Dart's heads tend to flow best at very high lifts and are not really very torquey or streetable imo. Check out Trickflow.com they make decent heads for a reasonable price. Aluminum heads will let u bump up the compression too, so keep that in mind.

Why dont take a look at canfield 195 cc, they flow pretty good! look at AFR homepage in the flow to go article.......

Do yourself a favor-spend $40 on Dyno 2000-input the actual flow numbers for the heads in question. Examine the results using actual data, not opinions. DD may not be perfect, but it beats guessing.

Here is some data I collected regarding choosing cylinder heads:

779 596 AFR 227 CC CNC Competition
772 595 Pro Lightning 235 CC Iron
756 587 Edelbrock Victor Race (.400 ex)
734 584 Dart Pro 1 230 CC
734 586 Pro Action 235 CC Iron
731 584 Trick Flow R series
716 582 Brodix Track 1-CNC
709 579 Brodix Track 1-out of the box
717 572 AFR 210 CC Aluminum
658 565 Dart Pro 1 alum 2.05/1.60 215 cc

Since Pro Actions are a favorite, here is the part I used-
Part No. 223200035A-yes they make others that are CNC.

Based on price, I ordered the Dart Pro 1 230 CC alumimum, swapping my Dart Pro 1 215 CC. On a chassis dyno, my old combo was within 1 HP @ 4500 RPM of DD.

Engine specs:
390 CI
solid roller- .658I, .667E
Vortech S trim, 10 lbs.
1000 CFM TB
10:1 comp
most make peak HP @7500 RPM
peak torque @ 5500

I agree DD2000 is a nice tool. I couldn't help but notice you were running 10:1 compression with 10lbs of boost!!! I was wondering what octane you run and what parts you used to build your block . Thx

I run VP Racing 103 unleaded. The bottom end consists of Eagle 4340 crank & rods, JE blower pistons. The block is .070 over with splayed caps.
