Car: All GM
Engine: All Chevy
Transmission: TH350 / 700R4 / 4L60E
Axle/Gears: custom GM 8-1/2" 456 posie
350

Even if you got the /85 TPI for free, I think you would still be better off to sell the 305 and buy a 350.

Swapping a motor into a 4X4 is a bit of work, and converting to TPI can get expensive. So I also suggest that you not use the /85 type Tune Port Injection. Use /86 or up, or convert your /85 system to a newer system. I don’t even think you can buy an aftermarket wiring harness for the 85 type.

If money is not an issue just sell what you got and get 350 TPI out of a latter model if you’re stuck on having a TPI.
If money is an issue, just get a good 350 with a 4bbl carb, and swap in some 373s or 411.

I have a 350 I can top it off as for wiring painless sell a harness that would work up graded to 86 just looking for impovements in tourqe. I owned a 2001 4x4 but had trouble pulling the trailer loaded since its cheaper to build my own FI engine the way I want and power that I want and Ihave most of the part I'll try it inmy 85. If carb is the way to go what mod need to be done to get a happy amount of toruqe. I can go either way would like tpi

Car: candy blue 85 z28
Engine: 305 tpi LB9
Transmission: 700r4 crazy beefed up one
Axle/Gears: ones with teeth
do you know which 305 you have?

in 85 gm gave us a 305 LB9 tpi that has 215 hp and 275 tq

86+ iroc. 190 hp 245 tq 87 l89 would be 225hp 330 tq

in the 90's it satrted to jump a bit more L89 245 hp 300+tq thats if you can find a l89 it would have to run rpo codes to be sure.

so unless you can find a 90's plus i would just stick it as you have it and gear the truck for pulling. gear makes a bigger diffrence than hp.

The Edelbrock Performer package makes a nice addition to a 4X4 Chevy truck. One of the best improvements though: HEADERS.
