Gear drive in an 85' TPI car
well I did the search thing, and the general consensus is that gear drives made for roller cammed cars dont mess with the knock sensor. I am planning on installing a cam over the winter and need a new timing set and was thinking about a gear drive. I havent seen anything about anyone using a gear drive with a non- roller TPI motor. If there is a good chance of problems I will just get a cloytes timing chain set instead.

Yeah, if you get the "quite" gear drive, you should be fine. I know a lot of people running them without problems.

I would like to hear how the quiet ones work from someones experience along with solid cams.
Even though Iwont be running a gear drive again anytime soon.
They dont work well when you take out the idler gear and forget to put it back in, then turn over the motor to put it in time.......CRUNCH CRUNCH CLANK...lol I bent all kinds of stuff and broke my block
