You can also get into tuning it yourself and make a chip using the 89 L98 chip. The 89 models didn't have cold start, but they added more fuel in using the regular injectors.

You can also just find someone that is local to you and see if they can make you a chip and teach you how to do it. If you find them on here, you will need to pm them so you don't get in trouble with the mods.

When I switched from my 87 TPI setup with the cold start injector to a Stealth Ram, I didn't get a new chip or anything. It starts fine even in like 20 degree weather. I'm going to do a custom chip soon anyway since it needs some tuning, but it works without it.

You have to disable the CSI somehow. You can pull the plug on the injector itself or it has its own fuse in the fuse box. Pull either one and it should start right up with the 89 prom or even the 86-88 setup. I know a lot of people are not fond of leaving the injector in the rail since it can leak, but for a temp solution it'll work fine.

Also you don't need the whole 89 ECM, just the prom.

rsn932-Thats been my experience also, CSI doesn't seem to do anything unless its really cold.

clippjr8, for $150 You can buy an adapter and a usb chip burner from craig moates and be burning your own. Anybody thats computer literate at all can figure out how to check some flags and burn a simple chip.

You are right. If your interested in burning your own proms and have the time to learn, moates is the way to go. If your not, then www.lsracingchips is the way to go. Its all in the person and what they want to spend there time on. It would not be worth it to buy the prom burning epuipment just to change some flags and thats it. But, in the end, you are right. Burning your own proms is the way to go if you want maximum power and driveability and the time to put into it.
