Need cam and head help...

Hey guys, my first post here.

I'm building me a TPI fed 383 stroker and need some help on choosing what heads to go with.

I'm building for the street, this engine will rarely see the strip. Future plans are maybe to swap a TPIS Miniram onto it, but that'll be later on down the road...

Anywho, I need some help choosing a good set of heads. I am on a budget, so I'd like a good compromise between price and performance.

Thanks guys.

IMO for what your looking for I'd go with Aluminum L98 Corvette heads. You should be able to find a pair for a reasonable price. They flow fairly well, easily ported, alot less weight then iron and will work with your TPI. Another option would be Vortec heads. They're cheap & flow well. BUT you'll have to buy a different base intake to use your TPI.

My only worry with the L98 heads is the angled plugs, since I intend to run 1 3/4" swap headers there might be some clearance issues. But I hear the L98s have a little more clearance than some of the others, so I dunno...

What are you installing this engine into? I'm going to assume the 99 S-10? If so then yes there are some issues with S-10 V8 headders and L98 aluminum heads. I have a pair of Sanderson 1 3/4 s-10 swap headers, #1 cylinder looked to be the biggest problem. Accel makes shorter headder sparkplugs for the L98 heads and slight dimpling is always an option.

I'm looking to sell my headers BTW if those are what your looking to get.

Yes, it is going into my S10 and those are the headers I intend to use. I wasn't aware that Accel made shorter spark plugs, I'll just go that route.

Thanks for the info!
