91 z28 305 -> 350, what do I need?
Computer wise?
Folks in my engine swap thread suggested Id need a 350 PROM (along with injectors, knock sensor, and module).
So does that mean that I just pick up the GM 350 PROM chip? Straight from GM? Or can I (should I) just get one of those aftermarket chips (JET, Hypertech, etc)?
Are they the same thing?
And if I did decide to get an aftermarket computer, chip, whatever...which one do you all suggest? JET? (heard bad things about hypertech)
Could I get a list of suggestions regarding computer related parts Ill need for this swap?
Thank you!

IF u are going to a STOCK 350 with everything on the engine set up as a 350 than a stock memcal would work fine.
305 =19# inj, 350 = 22# inj from the factory.
If you are adding a cam, ported heads, etc, it is still best to run the closest applicable factory memcal and components to your combo.
So depending on what u r doing, U would need the memcal, inj, knock sensor.
Check out the Guidebook sticky up top as far as leanring how to tune and what u need to do it.
The aftermarket chips are garbage.
There is a decent amount to be had in even tuning an otherwise stock application.

Thanks Jeremy,
Lets say that I dont have the time to custom tune anything just yet. Lets say I need a reliable car, and I need it now.
Im buying a "stock engine in a box", and just need a computer to run the show for a while, and then might tune and tweak some other day.
Do I just pick up a GM 350 memcal? And is that GM part # 1227730?
All the stuff Ive been able to locate, is all greek to me, and honestly, I dont have the time to learn all this stuff just now, I just need to know where to go to get the part I need
I cant seem to find this monster (1227730) for sale anywhere...

No tuning content, its going over to the TPI board then :-)
Hit a junkyard and check out late 80 early 90 FWD cars. Berretta's and the like had them. think the Cav's did too.

1227730 is the ecm, the chip is inside, different part number. There's a list of numbers on the thirdgen.org faq or tech section or somewhere from the front page. You should already have the 730 ecm in there, so just need the chip/prom/memcal/whatever you wanna call it, plus the other aforementioned stuff.
