Throttle cable question

I was just looking under the hood today and noticed my bottom throttle cable looked loose. I touched it with my finger and it had a lot of give to it....how tight should it be and can it be adjusted??

thats not a throttle cable, thats your TV cable (Throttle Valve)
thats what controls what rpm the transmission shifts at relative to how much throttle you are giving it. (i.e. when you are just cruising around the car shifts at 1500 rpm or less, but when you floor it it doesnt shift till 5000 rpm for instance)
The cable is adjustable, if you follow the cable back youll see where meets a bracket, on the sideof that bracket youll see a D shaped button. What you need to do is grab the slider, which is right where the cable goes into that bracket, and is on the cable, push the slider to the back of the car while pressing in the D shaped button. Youll see this increases the tension of the cable

now get in your car and with the car off push the accelerator pedal down to the floor. Youll hear some clicking from the engine bay. Thats the TV cable setting itself.

Over time, I have seen those rip the teeth off the adjustment area, so after you adjust it make sure the cable has some tension in it (especially when open) and the adjustment part cant be pulled out by hand, otherwise its shot. If you dont ever get tension in the cable, its either broken or disconnected in the trans, which is something you definitely need to fix.

You seriously just bumped a 13+yr old thread? Are you a ****ing idiot?

EDIT: I see the mods took care of that, carry on, nothing more to see here.

Why would that make you so angry, fly89? It's just a thread.
