Resolved code 42 EST Problem.
After pulling out nearly every hair I had left on my head, I finally figured out why I was getting code 42 intermittently.
The blue connector going into the ECM houses a tan w/ white strip wire. Its the EST bypass that you disconnect to set initial timing.
The wire in the connector has given some play. After a wiggle check, I found this to be my problem.
Just a heads up before anyone goes replacing expensive parts. I refused to replace one single item until every area was checked. Glad I did
BTW-
Anyone know the "correct" way to fix that loose wire? I just gotta wiggle it into place and it stays there pretty good for a few weeks before coming loose again.

glad to hear yours was cheaper. my code 42 turned out to be a bad ecm (of course it was the last thing i replaced). oh well i got a new ignition module, coil, pickup coil, and ecm out of the ordeal. as for the connector, id just cut the old black connector off and go to autozone and get some of those quick-snap wire connectors and place inline with the wire.
