Engine water leak! What is this.....?
I have a 1985 350 TPI engine upgraded to speed density.
No SMOG stuff at all.
It has been running good until today, when I started smelling coolant on the way home.....
I pulled in and steam and water were spraying out of this opening......
What could be causing this?
I do not have water in my oil, so I would not think it is a blown head gasket.
Could the coolant temp sensor be messed up somehow and divert water out this opening?
Thanks for the help!

This is just your tb coolent hose, put a new hose on or just bypass it.

coolant flows from there either to your heater core and back out to the radiator, or is diverted from the heater core straight to the radiator. i cant be too sure since my car didnt come with a diverter, so coolant always flowed to the heater core, and now that i removed it, that little nipple that your showing is connected to the radiator directly to aviod all leaks

You're kidding right? I don't see how you could have driven it anywhere without that hose installed. That other hose that's sort of U shaped is the one feeding hot water into the throttle body and it should have been flowing whenever the engine is running. You can bypass the whole thing and let the car breathe colder air. You can search the tech articles on how to do it. Good luck, and never let your engine overheat, no matter what.

Nope, I have been driving it for the last 2 months or so....Not a long distance, but 1 couple or miles or so.....I have been trying to get everything else finished on my truck..
So, can I just block off the outlet on the intake manifold where it comes out and goes to the TB?
I don't have a heater on my truck....

Wow . . .is all I got to say! No way that car should have been driven with out the coolant line.

No, you can't just block it off. You need to either:
1) connect the hose from the area circled to the original location on the heater diverter valve.
OR
2) Take off the U shaped hose and connect the lowest location to the heater diverter valve directly.
If you don't have a diverter any more, then the hose should run to the heater core inlet. You must not have driven it far enough to warm up.

that would have dumped coolant this first time you started it and no way you would have not noticed it.
to bypass it all you have to do is take the hose from the other side of the TB and conect them both w/ a adapter that can be bought at any hardware/auto parts store.
that setup is suppose to cool the TB, but its an *** backwards design sending hot coolant to the TB. its said that the mod gives you a HP boost but nothing youll probablay feel seat of the pants.

1. I do not have a heater, heater core, or heater hoses, and I am assuming I do not have a diverter.......
I have the 2 hoses to the radiator, 1 from the water pump, and the other from the intake....
Can I not Block off the outlet from the intake (The small hose that goes to the TB) ?
I read a few Tech FAQ's, and they were somewhat confusing...but I did read one where a guy just plugged the hole on the intake up..

Connect it to the water pump then. You can't block it off, it must flow water. It allows water to circulate even when the thermostat is closed.

there used to be a hose there that came off while you were driving. find it and re attach it with a hose clamp this time.

If what you say is true, then something must have been in there plugging it so that the coolant didn't spew out.
I think that you have this installed in a truck right, not an F-body? Since you have no heater core, just unhook the u-shaped hose going from the intake to the throttle body and plug the hole in the intake. You should be fine then. You don't need to connect that to anywhere for your specific application.

yep, I actually have it routed back to the water pump.....
I think something must have clogged it up also...just don;t know what...
