yep if your converter is bad it will resrict badly causing performance problems.
whatever your heads can handle is what the limit is for a cam by the way if you plan to street it to radical cam will mean you break booster may not work to full potential be careful of that.

Re: From high 12 to high 11 sec
What kind of tires you using and what 60 foots are you getting?
Need more stall and drag sticky tires to get better ET's. Your combo should be alittle faster than 12.9's as it sits.
280XFI cam with the HSR is a high 11 second combo with 3600 stall and 3.73 gears. You got 4.10's so thats even better. Just make sure your heads have enough spring in them to control that cam. Its a tough lobe to control up in the rpms. AFR has a 8019 spring upgrade that should be considered with that cam, if you dont already have those springs

Re: From high 12 to high 11 sec
that horsepower seems way low for afr/hsr/lt4hotcam/converter setup even if it is a mild 2400 stall... there are people with same setup but with tpi making more horsepower than that.. those are with afr 180 heads..... something is wrong..... could be a tune problem..... also those 4.10 gears are not helping you with that 700r4.... probably ran out of steam at the end of the quarter mile because of those gears... i would go 3.45 gears....

What's your compression ratio? Did you build the bottom and or just bolt on the top end? A stock bottom end won't live long at the RPM and power level that that top end wants to run at.

Re: From high 12 to high 11 sec
Ok
Some more info:the engine was total rebuit 2008,i really dont now all parts in it,but everything was new.
The old trickflowheads(twistwed wedge) was 58cc(i think) and these (AFR) are 64cc so there is a loss from about 10.1 to 9.5 just gessing.
Today i was at the dragway and as follow.
60 foot 1,86
200m 8,3
speed 200m 133 km/h
402m 13.04
speed 172 Km/h
I do have M/T street radials so there is no problem whith grip.
In goal i am in third gear and 5000rpm
Alsoe i am having hard time to get in gears,i have to let off som trottle, have a new monsterkit that will be installed after this summer.
Last year i did 12.99 and 175 km/h
Better heads but lower comp ?

CR has alot to do with engine efficiency and the amount of motive force produced from each combustion event. 1/2 point is a significant reduction. My Twisted Wedge G2s are 64cc. Are you sure your Twisted Wedge were 58cc?
I don't like burned chips because they lock you into a given tune with no control over fuel and timing curves. You may have alot of unrealized potential in your combination that might be brought out with a tunable ECM. Think about an EEPROM and TunerPro. Or even an ACCEL or other aftermarket programmable ECM.

The ecm is tunable, just need chip burning software like tunerpro and a burner like from moates.net. Then you can burn new tunes on the same chip, just erase and reburn and install.
108mph traps is pretty good, good enough for lower 12's. 1.86 60 foot isnt all that great with drag radials and 2400 stall, i'd expect low 1.7's. I'd go to a 3200-3400 stall setup and try again.
The ET will improve alot once you figure out the transmission problems... letting off throttle to get the car to shift gears is a HUGE time consuming factor. Things will pick up once you get tranny working.
I'd suggest you get the tranny working well and then retune and see where your at before swapping cams.
For what its worth, my friends .060" over 350 L98 motor at 9.5 to 1 compression with old school AFR 190 heads which are far behind the new eliminators, HSR, and 280XFI cam went 12.2's at 112mph on a somewhat soft high 1.7x 60 foot. It was suffering horrible valve float above 5600 rpm due to inadequate springs. If it had good valvesprings like the Eliminator heads, it would have been high 11 second car easily. That was with 3600 stall, 3.90 gear and 28" tall radial tire.

Re: From high 12 to high 11 sec
Ok Thanks alot !
I am going to do a rebuid on the tranny and a 3200 stall, have to do that even if i go for another cam in the future.
I have all the burning stuff and chip but i have not got into it yet,i got help from some others whith that, the problem is that there are no near around my town that are good at this tpi engines.
Any suggestions of torque converter model ?
Anders

Re: From high 12 to high 11 sec
Any of the major suppliers for torque converters will work. You'd have to tell them your combination of parts, estimated hp/tq values, and vehicle weight/gearing and then a suggested stall speed you would like to run, and they will set you up. I'd suggesting something in the 3200-3400 range to start
