CODE 32
I am still sorting out some issues with my 1986 IROC-Z. It now starts a runs fine, but I now have a code 32 which is active on engine starts. I tried using the GM diagnostic flow chart but I am unable to locate the EGR diagnostic switch connector. The service manual I am using is for an '88 and the connector is not located where it indicates it on the '88 service manual.
When it starts the scan tool data indicated "EGR switch OFF" but CODE 32 still shows active.
I sure am hoping you guys can point me in the right direction.
Thanks, Andy

Re: CODE 32
Generally a code 32 means your egr valve isn't working correctly. It can get clogged up over time and stick open/closed. Replacements are available at most of the parts stores. It's located under the intake plenum. You might want to finish filling out your profile. It makes it easier to answer your questions when we know your cars details.

Re: CODE 32
Does the car run totally fine? But you just get a code 32 at startup or while driving?
It's very possible the EGR TEMP SENSOR is bad. The Camaro TPI version is discontinued.
GM and aftermarket. But you can use the corvette TPI one. Same part the wire is just a little shorter but it fits fine.

It just screws into the base of the EGR SENSOR itself. Have to take the plenum off to install.

Re: CODE 32
I replaced the egr valve on the bird (350 tpi) twice now. Easy test is to just pull the plenum off carefully not damage the gaskets- then test egr valve, squeeze plunger up and put finger over the vac hole, if it drops down with finger over the hole diaphragm is shot. This only works on the chevy style egrs, Pontiac are different.
If good, check solenoid, hard to find, used ones are out there for around $25. Sometimes a vac leak will be enough to cause the egr to malfunction.
Make sure vac is good, plenum bolts are torqued to 25 ft lb, Throttle body bolts torqued as well, I have found those loose at times, causing loads of havoc. Did egr on the iroc 305 also, I just put a new one in ...
New TPI and TB gaskets will help with vac issues.
With all those cars you own you probably already know this, but thought I'd share my EGR agony. MAFs are another story.
